What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility generally receives high praise for its beautiful, clean, and well-maintained amenities, including excellent tennis courts, an indoor pool, and a well-equipped gym. The staff is consistently described as friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, with special mention of personal trainer Jay Green for his effective strength regimens and group fitness instructors Donna and Devon for their motivating classes. There are extensive group fitness class offerings and a pro shop for tennis essentials. However, feedback on parking is mixed; while one review notes a huge, problem-free lot, another criticizes it as a persistent 'cluster of a mess' requiring investment. Some users also report the facility can be very busy, making it challenging to complete workouts at peak times. A notable negative point is the membership cost, which some deem 'insane' and expensive compared to alternatives, along with a perceived rigid student membership policy.

This place needs to invest all that money they get, into a bigger parking lot. Cluster of a mess for the past decade. You spent all that time and money renovating it. Now it's time to do the parking lot
Nice and beautiful facilities with tennis, gym, and indoor pool. I visited this facility for the USTA sectionals tournament and played outdoors. The parking lot is huge and there is no problem. The courts are well maintained. The space between courts is manageable. There is a stadium court with bleachers. We didn't play there. The facility has Porta potty, or you have to go inside the facility at the main entrance to use the restrooms.the locker rooms and restrooms are very nicely maintained. The staff is very friendly, and then I used one of the places to use my laptop and got the wifi password as well. There is a pro shop that carries a lot of tennis essentials and racquets, a stringing machine too. They do carry occasional racquets on sale.
I just started back to the gym about 6 weeks ago. I haven't worked out in a few decades so I requested a personal trainer. After a few days, I received a text from Jay Green and my life has changed. After years of feeling weak and incapable of doing any of the things I used to do routinely, Jay's strength regimens have me feeling strong and confident again. I still have a long way to go, but Jay has made the gym a necessary part of my life again. He's an excellent trainer and an even better guy...I highly recommend him if you want to be challenged to get better. He leaves me feeling "good sore" after every workout. He constantly checks to make sure I'm comfortable doing what he's asking me to do and has structured a program for me that I will be able to continue on my own in the future. Hempfield Rec is also a really nice facility. There are times where it is very busy and can be difficult to do your workout in the order you might want to. But the staff is super friendly, the facility is clean, and the equipment is in good condition. I'd highly recommend both Hempfield Rec and Jay if you're looking to get back into shape.
Fabulous facility. It is easy to see why this place is ranked #1 in Lancaster County. I come here to swim, exercise and dance several times each week and always find things ship shape, well equipped and well staffed. Group fitness class offerings are extensive, and I especially enjoy exercise classes with Donna, and ballet with Devon. Both are excellent teachers who never fail to motivate and challenge. At the pool, every swim aid imaginable is available and the lifeguards and coaches are knowledgeable and attentive.
Place is nice but the price is insane. Better off paying for crunch or planet fitness if you’re looking to only use the gym. They denied me a student membership because I’m “too old” even though I am here for nursing school. Kinda ridiculous but if you want to pay the price then go for it. Keep in mind, the cheapest option was $225 for 3 months
