The Beaver County YMCA, located at 2236 3rd Ave, New Brighton, PA 15066, USA, is a comprehensive community center offering a wide range of facilities and programs. It serves as a vital hub for fitness, aquatics, youth development, and healthy living, featuring amenities such as fitness centers, gymnasiums, group exercise studios, and multiple swimming pools for all ages.
The aquatics facility typically includes a main lap and recreational pool maintained at approximately 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C). Additionally, a warmer therapy or family pool is usually kept at a higher temperature, often ranging from 86-88°F (30-31.1°C), to cater to different swimming, exercise, and comfort needs.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility receives significant criticism across multiple areas. Staffing shortages are a prominent issue, leading to frequent closures of amenities like the therapy pool and overall poor facility maintenance and cleanliness, including rusted equipment and dirty pool areas. Several patrons report an unwelcoming and hostile environment, specifically mentioning an elderly lifeguard's rude behavior towards families with young children and staff harassment towards LGBT youth, causing children to feel unsafe. Management is viewed as unhelpful regarding complaints and refund policies, leading many to conclude that the membership is not worth the price, despite some acknowledging pleasant early morning staff and the need for the facilities for health reasons.

Weight room gets a little claustrophobic. Early morning crew is very pleasant. Some of the equipment could be a lot better, like that rusted multitrainer near the bench presses. I only go here because I got a free membership. If I’m honest it’s definitely not worth the price.
Terrible. Been here 3 weeks in a row, Wednesday nights, and the therapy pool has been closed each time. This week it was open when we arrived, but the teenager life guard that was here had to go home, so they closed it early. Asked another staff member, and they said "sorry we're short staffed". Will not be returning or renewing our membership after child's swim lessons are over. IF YOU POST A SCHEDULE - FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT WORK!
Not very family friendly. Took my wife and 3yr old to the pool, no other kids were there. This happened to be the first time there. We constantly got screamed at but an elderly lifeguard named Bruce to be quite or leave, even telling my wife she should learn to raise a well behaved child. She was so embarrassed we left and asked to speak to management. The aquatics director I spoke with apologized but went on to say she couldn't guarantee that their lifeguards wouldn't act in such a manner. I asked for a refund minus the trip we just went in for and was denied. According to the terms under no circumstances is a refund to be issued, go figure.
Not lgbt friendly. If your kids are in a phase of their lives where they are exploring avenues, do not send them here. My child comes home crying and shaking each time talking about how the staff will gang up on them and harass them til they cry. My child does not feel safe here, not sure why I pay the fees. Warning to all parents who may have a rainbow child, they are not safe here.
I'm here several days a week to swim. I need the water to continue to exercise for to health. I'm disappointed that the facility isn't as clean as it used to be. Pool deck needs a good scrubbing. The hot tub walls appear dirty. People continuously are going straight from the sauna and steam room to the pools or hot tub without showering off between. (And yes, I've brought it to the attention of the front desk) I was surprised when I saw the new plans to change the facility. I was equally surprised they didn't freshen paint and deep clean the pools over COVID. I realize that staffing is an issue but the facility was closed for a period during the pandemic. I feel like it was a missed opportunity. Really hope they freshen everything up with the new facility plans
