About

The Lake Oswego Swim Park, located on the shores of Oswego Lake, is a seasonal, family-friendly outdoor recreation area. It features a fenced-in lake swim area with a diving board, an inflatable water slide, a splash pad, a sandy beach, picnic tables, and restrooms. Lifeguards are on duty during its operational hours, typically from late June through Labor Day, providing a safe and fun environment for visitors to enjoy the lake.

The Lake Oswego Swim Park primarily utilizes the open waters of Oswego Lake for swimming activities and also includes a splash pad. Specific, maintained pool temperatures are not provided, as the lake water temperature naturally fluctuates with weather and season, and splash pads are typically unheated, using water at ambient temperatures.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The provided reviews discuss two distinct swim parks: the Lake Oswego Swim Park, owned by the City of Lake Oswego, and the Lake Grove Swim Park, owned and operated by the Lake Oswego School District (LOSD). The City-owned Lake Oswego Swim Park receives significant criticism for its poor maintenance, being described as neglected with dirty water (algae, bugs, litter), 'ghetto' fencing, and a lack of proper facilities like real bathrooms and changing rooms. Reviewers express disappointment with city spending priorities, suggesting funds should be allocated to park improvements rather than consulting fees. Conversely, the Lake Grove Swim Park is generally described as a lovely, small private park with amenities like a play structure and sand pit, though its access is restricted to students and residents within specific former school district boundaries. There's a notable undercurrent of conflict and confusion regarding access rules for both parks, with some advocating for broader public access, referencing a recent ruling against restricting park access, while others defend the school district's ownership and limited access for the Lake Grove park.

Yuck. The Lake Oswego Swim Park is owned and operated by the City of Lake Oswego and is open to all city residents (but not to residents with homes in the city limits that are in unincorporated Clackamas County). The Lake Grove Swim Park, which has more limited access based on a map of lots included in the original deed - it is owned and operated by the Lake Oswego School District, and is separate from this park. As a city resident, I expect something much nicer and better maintained. It is like a neglected campground, and not in a good way. The city operates only one swim park and needs to take better care. Instead of the city paying a consultant $744k for a vision statement, take care of this park. All the stone walls and pavers need pressure washing and sealing. The chain link fence surrounding the dock is ghetto. There should be real bathrooms with changing rooms and lockers, not a port-a-potty. The divider ropes are covered in green algae and bugs. The water within the swim area needs to be cleaned daily with a net because it is littered with bugs and fir needles. We saw a dead fish head and candy wrappers today. I would like the ability to takeout our paddle boards from here, but they are not allowed. I appreciate that it is staffed, that inner tubes are provided and that the dock is in good condition (although the edge along the water is covered in spiderwebs). Less City Code enforcement funding, greater capital improvements and better maintenance, please.

FYI - this small area is open in summer part-time, and staffed by high school students since the School District owns it. Please don't let the current petty mind games affect it - should you just head for all school facilities and take those over too because you pay taxes in Oregon. Calm down and leave the school district alone please! Lake Grove Swim Park, located on Oswego Lake, is owned and operated by the Lake Oswego School District (LOSD). The park was originally deeded to the Lake Grove School District by the Oregon Iron & Steel Company. In 1953, the Lake Grove School District merged with the Oswego School District, forming the current LOSD. While the park is operated by the LOSD, its use is restricted to students and residents within the boundaries of the former Lake Grove School District.

Lovely park. Has a play structure, sand pit, kiddy pool, lake goes in 3-7ft moving inward. Im not sure of the negative reviews but this is a small private park for Lake Oswego residents. Idont think there is enough space for everyone since Goerge Rogers is the open space for EVERYONE. Be kind.

Great location. Owned by the schools so residents of lake Oswego school district only, so negative reviews aren’t exactly correct. Wish it opened 2 weeks sooner and maybe longer hours but great for the schools/kids to use when school is out

Judge rules that Lake Oswego cannot forbid public access to any parks. Tell your family and friends these elitists gonna have to have private swim in their backyards if they want it that bad
