Clean indoor and outdoor community pool with a shallow end, plus a basketball court, gym and playground.
The pool at Montavilla Outdoor Pool is heated for a comfortable swimming experience. While specific daily temperatures may vary, outdoor pools operated by Portland Parks & Recreation are generally maintained in the range of high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit (approximately 26-28°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the facility are mixed, highlighting both positive aspects and significant concerns. The park area is generally well-received, noted for being partially shaded, having picnic tables, grassy areas, and offering free summer activities including lunches and musical instruments. The pool is described as beautiful and city-run, with clean changing facilities and options for swim lanes and lessons, and some praise for lifeguards and staff. However, major safety concerns were reported, including a child almost drowning at a deep slide exit without staff intervention, and issues in the parking lot such as broken glass and a homeless individual causing discomfort. Other criticisms include unaddressed complaints about year-round Christmas lights wasting electricity and a lack of shade for spectators at the pool.

Never used! But it did take TWO direct face to face complaint's. And an online report, about wasting our electric money on running Christmas lights year round. First report met with ya they just go on and off! "ME" So you can't turn them off? "Answer" NO!
Okay for a public pool my daughter almost drowned coming down the slide & when I was trying to help her she started pulling me under & no one helped up. It’s one of the very few Portland parks and Rec pools with a deep drop when u come off the slide. So I would definitely not recommend her if you or your children are good at swimming in water when you can’t touch.
The park is nice and partially shaded. There are a few picnic tables and open grassy space for games. During the summer there are free lunches and activities for kids. I went on a Tuesday and was happily surprised to find keyboards and other instruments to play next to the play ground. Went to the pool for play swim (starts at 2:50-5ish summer of 2021). We did have to wear masks inside the building. There is a very shallow side (1 1/2 foot to 4ft) and a nice deep side. They only had the deep side slide out. Not a lot of shade for those sitting on the side lines. I did like the changing area and bathrooms/shower area was clean and roomy. I only give this place three stars for safety reasons. When I parked my car I discovered tons of broken glass next to my car. (I had to back out carefully to avoid running over the glass) I parked next to the dumpster and someone was sleeping in the dumpster. When I went back to my car (after going to the playground we came back for swim gear) the man was out of the dumpster and just there next to my car. As a woman with kids going to the park/pool it was very uncomfortable to deal with that kind of person.
Pool is beautiful! It is run by the the city of Portland. I went to swim lanes. You need to check the schedule in the mornings. They have swim lessons.
Good times great lifeguards and staff helping the community.
