What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Sea Otters present a mixed picture, with strong praise for individual instructors like Jacob, who are described as amazing, kind, encouraging, and effective in making lessons fun and positive for children. However, a significant number of complaints highlight severe organizational issues. Customers frequently report inconsistent teacher assignments, with children often having a new instructor daily, leading to repeated explanations of their swim level and concerns about reduced lesson time and lack of progress. Customer service is also a recurring point of dissatisfaction, with reports of scheduling errors, unhelpful or rude staff interactions (including an employee hanging up on a parent), and difficulty reaching management. Minor financial discrepancies and a restrictive 30-day cancellation policy further contribute to negative experiences, despite some initial positive enrollments.

My 6 year old has just finished taking 2 week course here (4 20min lessons a week) and we signed him up for two more weeks. He loved learning to swim and was sad to be finished. He also wasn't quite independent yet by himself in the water so he needed another two week session. We are so thankful to Sea Otters team for making it such a positive experience for us. The two week courses are about 300$. 10% less for second kid. Teacher Jacob is amazing but I will say the other teachers are so so good too.
I’ve never seen a more disorganized kids class establishment. I signed up for a 2 week swim session for both of my children and should have switched swim schools after my experience with that. One of my daughters had a new teacher almost every single day and I had to explain what level of swim she was every time to the new instructor (this was after trying to figure out who the instructor even was because there were no signs of the teacher being absent or having a sub). An expensive 20 minute class is now a 15 minute class after all of this. I brought this up to the office and they basically shrugged. Fast forward to today, second week into their once a week 20 minute class and we have the same issue. There are no signs about my kids teachers being out. One sub is able to find us and doesn’t even introduce herself, just takes my daughter into the pool. My other child’s teacher also isn’t there and the office doesn’t even know who the sub is. We finally find the sub and she said she had the wrong class time somehow. They start 5 minutes late. After spending almost $1K here, there is zero improvement with one of my children because of the inconsistency with their teachers and lack of communicating what the child is supposed to be learning/where they are at. They have a 30 day cancellation policy so think wisely about signing up with them, we are stuck with them for the next few weeks.
I wish I could give Sea Otters a good review. We initially had a good experience back in 2023. We brought our son there and the teacher had patience and was great with him. Then that teacher moved away and that is when the issues started. My son was never scheduled with the same teacher, and when we asked we were told that they could “try” and find a more consistent teacher. We decided to end his swim lessons instead. Jump to this month (July 2025). We decided to give them another try this time with my son and daughter, and when we called to book, we told them our concerns from the previous experience and was told they would get them with a more seasoned instructor. Today was supposed to be their first lessons, and we got a call 4 hours before their lessons were set to start and was told that they had made a scheduling error and would need to change our daughters time and day, we reminded them that we specifically asked for them to have their lessons on the same day around the same time so we didn’t have to drive there multiple days. Emma told my wife that she would call her right back. My wife had to call Emma back, nearly an hour later, and ask what the solution was. Emma didn’t have a solution said she “looked at the schedule but didn’t see anything that would work” and when my wife asked why we had to change our time slot, Emma started giving my wife a lot of attitude and just kept saying “it’s not my fault, I didn’t do this.” Emma clearly has zero customer experience skills, and she hung up on my wife when my wife asked her to not have attitude and to come up with a solution. My wife tried to call back, and no one answered, yet when I called (from a different number) someone answered right away. I asked to speak with the manager and was told the owner, Dana, wasn’t in and would be back around 3:30. I asked if there was no other supervisors available they said no. This is what happens when you leave incompetent staff unsupervised. If you are looking for drain lessons for your child, I would look elsewhere.
I sent two of my kids here for weekly lessons for over a year. Swim instructors were great, but the desk stole a few dollars from me. Update: 2 weeks later and there has been zero attempt to make it right. Stay away.
My grandson is taking lessons here. He is having a wonderful time. Teacher Jacob is kind and encouraging and make it fun.
