It serves as a training facility, especially for Marines, and receives praise for knowledgeable and helpful staff in that context, noted for facilitating more training than other facilities. However, other reviews describe it as an ordinary pool with unhelpful staff, particularly for non-swimmers, leading to non-recommendations. There was also a specific negative experience with 'mean' wait staff during a poolside brunch. The facility is acknowledged as old, with the locker room needing improvements.

This pool has been around since the 70's. My brother and I learned how to swim in this pool when I was 7. My Father was named Melvin Eugene Patrick and he was a US Marine. Our family was stationed in Camp Pendleton. I went to school at Santa Margarita School and we lived on Begonia St. There use to be buffalo's roaming near the training center. Today, I am 54 yr. old and I thank you for your service. One day I hope to visit the base. It brings back lots of good memories of my father.
Great Pool to Train. The staff is very knowledgeable, easy going and helpful. Unlike Horno, it doesn't have a UET allowing for more Marines to Train.
Went for brunch and mimosas by the poolside. Wait staff was mean and yelled at people the entire time. 10 out of 10. Would recommend.
It's just an ordinary pool, they're not really helpful at all, so if u dont know how to swim, im sorry for you. Would i recommend, most likely not.
Old training tank that still gets business. Finned/swam many miles in this little pool. Locker room needs some love.
