What are people saying (AI review summary)? Bandy Ranch receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising it as a wonderful, family-friendly getaway, particularly for those with young children. Positive aspects frequently highlighted include cozy and private cabins, a lovely pool, beautiful grounds, and engaging activities such as movie nights, s'mores by a campfire, and interacting with farm animals. The food, especially wood-fired pizza and tacos, is consistently acclaimed, and staff are often described as warm, welcoming, and attentive. It's also celebrated as a magical venue for special events like weddings. However, long-time guests express deep disappointment with recent changes under new management, citing drastically increased rates, functional downgrades in cabins despite cosmetic renovations, and severe overcrowding at the pool due to a new day-pass system, which often necessitates renting expensive cabanas. New, undisclosed policies prohibiting outside food and drinks in the pool area, and the monetization of previously complimentary services like breakfast, are major points of dissatisfaction, leading some to feel the ranch has shifted its focus from guest comfort to maximizing profit.

Bandy Ranch was awesome! My family and I loved it. My 2 year old son loved exploring and taking morning and evening strolls, playing in the grass and swimming in the pool. They had movie nights in grass, amazing pizza cooked in a pizza oven, tacos with all the fixings, and a fire pit area to cook marshmallows. If you forgot marshmallows or anything else they have a little store with necessities. The rooms had everything and were super cozy. I loved how much privacy and space each cabin has in different areas of property. They also had some farm animals which my son loved. Overall, perfect for our weekend getaway which was 10 min to San Diego Safari Park. We will be back!
The Mockingbird was perfect for our family of four, and our extended family with younger kids in another cabin enjoyed their experience as well. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the in-cabin amenities were well-thought-out. We enjoyed the entire vibe of the property. The pool was lovely, and the grounds were a real treat. We loved the food and activities that were available during our stay. Everyone we interacted with on staff was warm and welcoming.
Disappointed Long-Time Guests My family and I have been coming to Bandy Canyon for about 7 years. It used to be one of our favorite local getaway spots — peaceful, family-friendly, and a great value for the rustic charm it offered. Unfortunately, our most recent visit a couple of weeks ago was deeply disappointing and may be our last. Since the new management took over, the rates have tripled. While the cabins were cosmetically renovated to look more modern, functionally they haven’t improved — in fact, some useful kitchen amenities were removed, making the stay less convenient. For this visit, we rented four cabins for one night, spending around $1,500 in total. When we arrived, the pool area was completely overcrowded due to the new day-pass system they’ve implemented. There wasn’t a single place to sit or relax with our kids. We felt forced to rent two cabanas at $250 each just to have a shaded area for our small children — and even then, the cabanas only allowed two people each, which is very limiting for families. Things only got worse. Hours after arriving, when it was finally time to check into our cabins, we were informed that outside food, drinks, and coolers were not allowed in the pool area — a new policy that had never existed in the past and was not mentioned when we made our reservation. We were also told they now offer coffee and pastries for breakfast — which used to be complimentary — but these are now for sale. The final straw? They ran out of clean towels at the pool, and the explanation was, “the washing machine broke.” Overall, it feels like Bandy Canyon has shifted from being a welcoming, family-friendly retreat to a place more focused on monetizing every possible aspect of your stay, with little regard for guest comfort or transparency. Sadly, it no longer offers the experience that once made it special for our family.
A Magical Experience at Bandy Canyon Ranch – Unforgettable Wedding & Baby Naming Celebration! We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Bandy Canyon Ranch! We recently hosted our wedding and baby naming event here, and it was truly magical from start to finish. From the very first moment we arrived, Emma and her incredible staff made us and our guests feel completely welcome. They were warm, attentive, and accommodating allowing us to fully enjoy every moment of the celebration. The location itself is absolutely stunning—a perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. The landscaping is breathtaking. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful it was. And of course, we can’t forget to mention our unexpected (and now beloved) guest—George, the elusive Egret—who made several elegant appearances and became a bit of a mascot for our special day! (We are sorry about your fancy Koi, Emma!) If you're looking for a venue that is both heartfelt and gorgeous, with a team that truly cares about hosting a meaningful and memorable event, Bandy Canyon Ranch is it. Thank you again, Emma and team, for making our wedding and baby naming celebration more perfect than we could have imagined.
Had the most amazing, whimsical time! My girlfriend whisked me away for the weekend and it truly felt like summer camp. We had great dinners, where Bandy Canyon provided wood fired pizza and tacos, and had some drinks, burgers, and fries poolside. We also made our appointment to visit the animal sanctuary, where we got to meet and feed the animals. There are plenty of activities for the kiddos here; They played Dory one night and provided smores by the campfire. The staff was always present, prompt, and nice. 11/10 recommend for a fun getaway trip!
