The Ned Baumer Miramar College Aquatic Center is a modern, state-of-the-art aquatic facility located at San Diego Miramar College. It serves as home to the college's swim, dive, and water polo teams, while also offering extensive programs for the community, including recreational swimming, swim lessons, water safety courses, and hosted events.
The 50-meter competition pool is typically maintained at a temperature between 79°F and 81°F (26.1°C - 27.2°C). A separate instructional/therapy pool is kept warmer, generally ranging from 84°F to 86°F (28.9°C - 30°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This community pool offers a lap pool, a recreation pool with a slide, and a kiddie pool. Positive aspects highlighted by reviewers include clean water, well-separated swim areas, and spacious, clean locker rooms, with some calling it their favorite public pool. Staff are generally considered friendly, and pricing is reasonable. However, the pool faces significant criticisms. The kiddie pool has been closed for extended periods due to repairs, and other slides may also be unexpectedly unavailable. Rules are deemed strict, prohibiting floatation devices and requiring a detailed swim test for slide access. Frequent complaints include inconsistent pool hours across different schedules and websites, poor communication from staff regarding attraction availability, and occasional inattentive lifeguards. Some reviews also noted issues with excessive chlorine and inconvenient seating.

There are three pools here. The lap pool, the recreation pool with the slide and the kiddie pool that has a playground in a pool that is about 1 ft-1 1/2ft deep. There are locker rooms with showers. The rules are sort of too strict though. You can't take any floaty devices in the water and kids have to pass a swim test to go down the slide. The swim test have to know how to do the proper breathing techniques.
Went in Summer 2023 and had a blast! Last summer the kids pool was closed all summer for repairs. I called today and the kids pool is still closed for repairs and they don't anticipate it opening at all. Frustrating.
Fun community pool. Hours change by the season so check the website before you go. $2 for kids, $4 adult. They have a lap pool, kids play area and a rec pool. Big yellow slide has an age limit of 7+ and 48 in. tall.
It's the middle of summer and hot. Kids area was closed for "maintenence", however nothing was blocked off/ no work being done. Several guests asked when the other slide was going to turn on. Several employees kept pushing the time back that it was supposed to turn on. It never did. The lifeguards were talking to each other the majority of the time. The pool had way too much chlorine in it. They tried to charge my for my newborn and got annoyed when I said she would not be going in the water so I didn't want to be charged for her. (I still paid for myself even though I didn't get in). Seating is not ideal (not by Kids areas). Definitely wouldn't recommend and won't go back.
By far my favorite public pool in San Diego. Lap swim is separated from the recreational swim AND the kiddo pool. The water is by far the most clean for the public pools. Locker room is huge and clean. Staff very friendly. Downside is hours can be very limited outside summer as it is the college swim team pool. Update: this year, the pool hours haven't been posted correctly in all spaces. The San Diego Community Pool master schedule has different hours than the Google hours which is different from the Ned Baumer internal schedule. I suggest calling ahead to make sure they're open.
