They effectively tailor their teaching to individual children's needs and learning styles, resulting in kids becoming confident, capable, and happy swimmers. The school is commended for its focus on form and technique, continuous progress evaluation by head coaches, and a low coach-to-student ratio (typically 2-3 kids per session). Parents appreciate the positive reinforcement, challenging lessons, and the convenience of an app for scheduling makeup lessons. Deck supervisors are also noted for their attentiveness. Andrea and Zack have been absolutely incredible swim coaches for my two- and four-year-old children. From the very beginning, they’ve shown such care, patience, and professionalism in working with my kids. What stands out most is how they tailor their approach to meet each of my children’s individual needs. My kids have very different personalities and learning styles, and Zack has made thoughtful adjustments to help each of them thrive. Thanks to their guidance, both of my children have become confident, capable swimmers who are comfortable and happy in the water. It’s such a joy to watch their progress each week and see how much they enjoy their lessons. I’m so grateful we found such skilled, kind, and dedicated teachers. Highly recommend!
Best swim school in San Diego for these reasons: - my son loves all the instructors, they are all thoughtful and fun while still keeping the kids focused on form and technique. - there is always a head coach evaluating each kid over time to assess when they are ready to test/move up to the next level (love that it never gets stagnant). - the app makes it so easy to schedule makeup lessons. - positive reinforcement without sacrificing a challenge for the kids at every lesson. Low ratio of coach to students. Typically max of 3 students per session, but often ends up being just 2 students depending on your lesson day/ time. We've had a great experience with this swim school and will continue going. My son can already swim but he is excited to progress with all the different strokes!
My 4 year old son has been attending Noonan for the past couple of months and I’m pleased and encouraged by his progress! Coach Hannah is an especially talented teacher. She has a naturally supportive nature that makes young students with very little swimming skills feel safe and excited about trying their best. Coach Ben also is so on top of all the student’s capabilities and progress—impressive given how many students there are! The only things that hold me back from a 5-star review are: Not all the coaches are as confident and capable as Coach Hannah. We had a substitute one day who kept referencing his notes and wasn’t familiar with the skills and exercises that my son’s class was focused on. Because the pool is indoors, the combination of the heat and pool chemicals can be dizzying and oppressive. I wish they would ensure all doors are kept open to keep the air flowing. Other than that, definitely recommend Noonan!
We’ve been really happy with Noonan for my son’s swim lessons. The teachers are great — super kind and playful, which really helps with the younger kids who might have a harder time separating from parents. Our class has about three kids, so sometimes there’s a bit of waiting, but for the price it makes sense. Besides the main coach, there’s usually one or two other people around keeping an eye on things and helping out. My son loves the ribbons they get when moving up leves, and overall he seems to really enjoy himself every week and most importantly he’s learning to swim.
We love Noonan Swim School!! The girls have excelled here and become so confident during their swim camps this summer. All the instructors are amazing and they do such a great job explaining how to do each skill to our 4 yo and 6 yo girls. The deck supervisors pay attention to all the kids and ensure each student is improving every class.
