Clean YMCA with a pool, yoga classes and a gym featuring child care and friendly staff.
The aquatic facilities at South Bay Family YMCA usually feature at least two distinct pools: a competition/lap pool and a recreation/warm water pool. While daily temperatures may fluctuate, the lap pool is generally maintained around 80-82°F (26.6-27.7°C), and the warmer recreation/instructional pool is typically kept between 86-90°F (30-32.2°C) for lessons, therapy, and family use.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a mixed picture of the facility. Positive aspects include a good selection of machines and equipment, a positive workout environment, and appreciation for friendly greetings, attentive staff, and specific classes (e.g., Paty's). However, there are significant criticisms, particularly regarding customer service. Multiple reviewers reported extremely poor phone service, including unanswered calls, long hold times, and rude staff who prioritized in-person clients. Other complaints include a lack of shallow water aerobic classes for seniors, loud music, limited spa hours, cleanliness issues in the showers, frequent staff changes, and discomfort with a manager's religious discussions. Some individuals reported being treated poorly or judged based on appearance, leading to canceled memberships.

I have always been greeted when arriving and leaving. Staff checks often that everything is in order. And Paty gives super awesome classes and I can say that as I have attended about a years of.
Not enough shallow water aerobic classes for seniors. Only 7:30 a.m. MW. Music too loud when those classes are over and you are trying to do your own routine. Spa closed Fridays for most of day.
Great place. Tons of machines, equipment, etc. Good environment for working out. Much recommended.
I wanted to write a review because I had bad service here twice. Actually three times a few years ago my mom and I had been turned away just for the way that we looked. I'm not sure if they thought we were poor or what it was, but we were turned away and treated really rudely. But even in this last week we thought about restarting our membership cuz we have another local Y but the pool is out of service at this time and I've tried twice to contact this Y instead on two different days about four phone calls later. Still no answering of the phones. Even if I call on a busy time or a non-busy time. I either get put on hold the first time I got sent to voicemail several times the second time on a different day which was today. I called the first time and I waited a while before they finally picked up the phone to tell me to wait longer and then I waited about 7 minutes before I hung up. I called again the second time. They made me wait about 5 minutes then sent me to voicemail and then the third time I called today they made me wait about 3 or 4 minutes before telling me to hold again when I explain to the woman that I had already waited 6 to 10 minutes the last time she put me on hold she proceeded to tell me how there was a client in front of her that she was still helping and how that person was there in person so they were more important than I was. I don't know who this woman is. All I know is that she needs to learn a few things about customer service. I've been in the industry for almost 20 years for customer service. Everything from food and beverage to personal training to theme parks. Everything you could think of and just for that, she's convinced me well enough to cancel my membership so I appreciate her whoever she is. Please know that I'm really grateful for you. I don't want to be part of a membership that treats people this way, especially because I think everybody's equal and I know for a fact I've worked in other jobs that were way higher class and there's a time limit a person is supposed to wait on hold on the phone and there's procedures for all these things. So if you're struggling and you need help, that's maybe something you need to talk to your boss about, but you should learn a few things about how to treat a customer. Never going here again. Have a beautiful day. God bless.
The staffing is constantly changing. This location of YMCA has helped me cope with personal loss through friendship, exercise and growth. No complaints except other than keep religion out it. The manager Christian talks a lot about Jesu but doesn't acknowledge the others... "God". The showers could be cleaner! The lifeguards could be friendlier. I quit here yesterday after 10 months. It's a good place but just don't get too friendly or close with management! 24Hours and L. A. Fitness have better hours... Overall 3.5/5 stars from me.
