I've been going to this location YMCA for sometime. I realize the building maybe old to make people like me that is disabled to get to certain places but I'm alright with it. Their all very friendly & welcome you. There's one person that always, always has a big beautiful smile, encourages the correct way using equipment & is very patient. Any questions I've got he helps me. Over & over. I hope the YMCA reads my review. I'm 70, have serious spinal cord issues & neck, neurothopy & fibromyalgia. Austin you have really helped me so much. Hope you read this too because I was writing of you. You are the greatest & I hope others will not be afraid to ask because you do know your stuff. Thank you. Thank you YMCA in Troy, New York.
While this Y is slightly smaller than the other Y’s in the capital district, the facilities are still very nice and the staff is incredibly personable and helpful! My fiancé and I have been seeing Austin for personal training since late October, and we both have witnessed really wonderful progress in both shape and strength. Austin makes training a lot of fun, and breaks down each exercise in an easy to follow and unintimidating way. As two novices to working out, we were at first a little overwhelmed by all the equipment, but with Austin’s help, we feel so much more confident and are getting wedding ready!
Me and my fiance go to the Y in Troy, everyone there is always extremely friendly and helpful. We’ve also been doing the personal training with Austin and he’s been an incredible resource for us in terms of learning our way around the gym, improving ourselves and not hurting ourselves along the way! Funny and professional and always makes training a good time.
My friend and I joined the Troy YMCA in December, 2023. We have been working out together for the past twenty years at various gyms located in the Capital District. During that time, we worked with many various personal trainers employed at those facilities. My friend and I recently agreed that Troy YMCA trainer, Austin Martell, has been the most talented & professional trainer that we've had the privilege to work with. During the last two months, Austin has closely worked with both of us and has ensured that we are obtaining the maximum benefits in conjunction with our workouts. He has provided an extremely high level of professional guidance regarding strength training, cardio training and nutritional education. We both highly recommend Austin as a personal trainer for any new member of the Troy YMCA who seeks to get the maximum benefit for their workouts. We are very grateful that we discovered such a dedicated & enlightened personal trainer.
The gym is amazing, very well lit and adequate equipment. It has a swimming pool, sauna, and steam. They have racquetball courts, but one is converted into a gym storage or a gym. The second one is open, but the walls are bulging out from different places. It looks like it used to be good, but it is not good anymore. I didn't have my racquetball kit when I went there. They say on the website that they provide racquetball racquet and balls. But the racquets provided by staff were from a wrong sport or not a standard size. Out of two balls they gave us, one was ripped. It is good to have a racquetball court in at least one of the capitol district YMCAs. But the situation is sad!
