Public pool with a daytime membership system and an online registration option.
Specific pool temperatures for the Atkinson Swimming Pool are not regularly published. As an outdoor facility, its water temperature naturally fluctuates with ambient weather conditions. The pools are generally unheated.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Atkinson pool generally earns praise for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, reasonable water temperature, and friendly staff. It features an 8-lane pool, though one review notes its dive well has closed. However, several issues are consistently raised: confusing or absent directions regarding pool rules (like diving) and after-hours access. Crowding is a frequent complaint, particularly after 4 PM on weekdays due to swim team practices, making weekend slots difficult to secure due to short hours. Recent renovations to locker rooms are largely criticized for being functionally worse than the old ones, with smaller lockers and fewer showers. Post-COVID and construction, membership options and hours have been confusing, restrictive, and sometimes expensive, with a shift towards an online reservation system for non-daytime slots. Despite these challenges, it is still considered a valuable community pool with a reasonable yearly membership, though single visit costs can be high. Suggestions for improvement include adding saunas, steam rooms, and swimsuit dryers.

Pool is good but the directions are confusing or just not there. You can’t dive but it’s now written anywhere. If you do a random person would either tell you or not and ask if you are coach or with a coach. The simple thing to do is to write down somewhere( may be they have now in small letters on website) at the pool. Otherwise it’s neat and clean
Great 8 lane swimming pool with dive well. Perfect for swimming laps, toddler swim, or family free swim for the bigger kids. Home pool to the Lincoln Sudbury swim team and Sudbury Swim team.
Small and crowed, need to update their shower room and have people clean them more throughout. Need to have more directions for the after hour swim. Hard to get weekend swim, and weekend hours are short. Waiting room that’s right outside of the pool is very large for parents to see and wait for their kids.
It's a great little pool but due to covid and construction hours lately have been confusing/restrictive/expensive. UPDATE: Minus one star. Really dislike that they kept some of the covid stuff in place. Not even possible to get a membership that covers all open hours anymore. The diving pool - which is also great for warmups or to hangout while waiting for a lane - closed forever. They spent God knows how much money renovating their locker rooms to be functionally worse than the old ones, with insanely small lockers and only one communal bench to sit on, and fewer showers, while completely neglecting the pool itself. If they wanted to spend money on something, saunas, steam rooms, and swimsuit spinners/dryers would have been nice.
Atkinson pool is a great community pool. The water and facilities are clean and the staff is consistently friendly. I find that the water temperature is always reasonable. The building is on the older side, but is well maintained. The cost for a yearly membership is really reasonable. You can pay for a single visit, but the cost is pretty high. NEW - Just a quick update after the pool reopened after the pandemic. Memberships aren't being honored, but people are allowed in on a per visit basis. I actually like the online registration system. The pool workers are polite and friendly. I don't like how crowded it gets when there is swim team practice, though. Updated 9/29/22 The new Atkinson daytime membership system runs from 6 AM to 4 PM on weekdays. All other times are by reservation for $8. I like the reservation system. The pool has been pretty uncrowded. Construction has left things a bit of a mess. You have to enter through the senior center. Update 12/7/22 With the start of swim season, it's become very hard to get a swimming slot. The pool is extremely crowded after 4 on weekdays because there are multiple swim teams practicing
