Very bad experience 😤 with LA Fitness. I tried to cancel my membership several times, but the staff kept stalling me. At first, they asked me to write my name, phone number, and reason for cancellation on a piece of paper and said they would deliver it to management. The next day, they told me it was submitted, and later they said the managers were not available. When I called, they said “you must come in person”, but when I went at 12 PM, no one was there! After all this hassle, they still didn’t cancel my membership and continued charging my card. Before this, I canceled my wife’s membership (on the same bank card), and even that took almost two weeks with a lot of stalling—but now my experience is even worse. The gym is extremely crowded, and waiting times for machines are very long. The place smells bad, is not cleaned properly, cardio machines are rusty and dirty, and the pool has been closed for a long time without any maintenance or explanation. Honestly, their way of handling memberships feels like scam and fraud. It’s like a prison they don’t want you to leave. I do not recommend this place at all. If there a zero star I will give them, Shame on a big corporation like this Also I saw many good reviews in one day .. I am sure it's all faked accounts... and if you check they never replay on the bad reviews to fix things ... It’s done no way I will come back to LA fitness again 😤😤

Had a terrible interaction with GM Valentina back when she first started at this location. We had been accidentally double charged the first month of signing up, and instead of working with us reasonably, she was rude dismissive and all around completely unhelpful. We canceled and never came back. Looks like the gym has gone downhill since then!

I’ve been struggling with cancellation at LA Fitness. Even though they confirmed my membership was canceled, I was still charged. When I called about it, I was told refunds can only be handled through the corporation—not the local gym. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) actually filed a lawsuit in August 2025 against the operators of LA Fitness (Fitness International LLC and Fitness & Sports Clubs), accusing them of making it “exceedingly difficult” for consumers to cancel gym memberships. The practices in question include requiring mailed or in-person cancellation—often involving unavailable managers—or forms that are hard to access or print, resulting in continued unauthorized billing and allegedly hundreds of millions in unwanted charges. The FTC is seeking to stop these practices and secure refunds for affected members. On top of that, the facility itself is very poorly maintained. The place is extremely busy, with. A lot of the equipment is broken, and many of the machines have ripped or worn-out cushioning. It’s also uncomfortably hot inside. They never seem to turn on the air conditioning, and when asked, the staff says they can’t control the temperature because it’s set by the main corporation. Overall, between the billing issues, the ongoing FTC lawsuit over cancellation practices, and the poor gym conditions, this has been a very disappointing experience.

Valentina is an amazing GM! She’s always professional, friendly, and truly cares about the members. She keeps the gym running smoothly and creates a welcoming environment every time I visit. LA Fitness is lucky to have her!

Very good gym though recently they have been closing a lot of the amenities. They still have a sauna and plenty of space to work out in. If you have a workout buddy, you can split a membership as you allowed two guests each visit. That is good because each membership is ~40 bucks a month.
