What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a largely positive view of the YMCA's services, particularly its youth programs. Summer camps and after-school programs are consistently praised for their 'amazing' and 'caring' staff who create welcoming, supportive, and engaging environments. Children reportedly thrive, making friends, developing confidence, independence, and a deeper appreciation for teamwork and exploration through varied activities and themed weeks. Staff are noted for their responsiveness, understanding, and effective organization, such as swimming activities tailored by ability. However, one adult membership review for the Burbank Y highlighted significant issues with overcrowding in the pool, men's locker room, and parking, as well as noise in the workout area. This user ultimately cancelled their membership due to these challenges and a perceived lack of value for the cost, despite acknowledging the facility's cleanliness and good management. Overall, while adult membership experiences can vary due to crowding, the YMCA's youth programs are highly recommended for their positive impact.

I recently ended my membership at the Burbank Y after 6 months for one primary reason, that is, it is over-crowded in at least 3 aspects. I wish to say my experience, in general, was favorable as it is a clean, well-managed facility. However, I joined primarily for the pool and I found the pool to be too crowded in the hours I had available (mornings), and highly unpredictable as to lane usage. Most mornings I visited, there were at least 1swimmer per lane, often 2, making it hard to swim comfortably (I am an older swimmer who is in the pool about 10-15 minutes). The second area of crowdedness is the men’s locker room which feels busy with only a few people using it. It is cramped and poorly designed in my opinion. Last, the parking is difficult, to say the least. I would often circle the building twice, then end up parking on the street. The workout area on the second floor is ok, but also a bit tight. One small issue was the noise from the classes which often permeated the whole floor. Given these issues, it made no sense for me to pay three times what Planet Fitness charges for equal facilities ( aside from the pool, but see above). Nevertheless, I think the Y remains a viable option for many in Reading, especially families.
My son recently attended your summer camp, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. From the moment he arrived, he was immersed in a world of fun, adventure, and learning. He couldn’t stop talking about the wide range of activities he got to participate in—from exciting outdoor adventures where he could express himself and try new things. The camp counselors were amazing, providing just the right mix of guidance, enthusiasm, and care. They made sure every camper felt included and encouraged to step out of their comfort zone. My son made wonderful friends and came home with stories of field trips, team challenges, and shared laughter that truly warmed my heart. What really stood out to me was how the camp fostered personal growth and independence. My son returned more confident, with a newfound sense of responsibility and a deeper appreciation for nature and teamwork. It was clear that the camp not only provided a fantastic experience but also helped him develop important life skills. We are so grateful for this experience, and my son is already counting down the days until he can go back next year!
The staff at the Burbank YMCA after-school program are truly amazing. My daughter absolutely loves going there and often asks to stay even longer! She's made wonderful friends, feels accepted, and is surrounded by care and support. The program keeps her engaged, active, and entertained with a variety of activities, making every afternoon something to look forward to. As a parent, it's such a relief to know she's in such great hands, and I’m incredibly grateful for the positive, enriching environment the YMCA provides. Highly recommend!
We were only there for a short time because my kids were going off to public schools but they just needed something to do to finish up their summer vacation. I’m very happy with how quickly my twins were welcomed and made a part of their class! The teachers were amazing! Very respectful, responsive and understanding. Definitely highly recommend their program! Thank you for all you do 🫶🏼
This is great camp with great staff. The staff is friendly and you can tell they really enjoy what they do. They do different themes every week making it different for campers that go for multiple weeks. The no electronics rule here is great.. fostering play, imagination and exploration. They are super organized about the swimming and very careful to organize this by ability making it less a concern for kids who have not completely mastered swimming yet. Super impressed will be sending my son back next year :)
