Gold Star Pool, located at 123 Berkshire St, Cambridge, MA, is a popular outdoor, heated public swimming facility operated by the City of Cambridge. Open during the summer months, it offers recreational swimming, lessons, and is equipped with changing rooms and lifeguard supervision, serving as a key community resource.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? This pool is highly recommended for families and children, offering separate pools for different age groups and attentive lifeguards. It is free for Cambridge residents, though proof of residency is required, and capacity is often controlled to prevent overcrowding. While many find the pool area and locker rooms clean, there are conflicting reports regarding cleanliness, with one review noting dirty changing rooms and a lack of a lost and found policy where left items are discarded. A recurring negative point is the inconsistent and often unfriendly or rude demeanor of the front desk staff. The atmosphere can be boisterous due to many children, and it is not suitable for lap swimming.
Reviews
Though the pool itself is nice, the red haired women who works at the front desk is incredibly rude. When I told her my age she was very doubtful and started questioning me. Even after I answered her questions she refused believe me, and now interrogates me every time I visit the pool. Overall, although I enjoy the pool itself that woman is extremely rude and snarky.
This is not the place to swim laps, but it's a lovely pool for families. There's a pool that goes from 1ft to 3.5ft for the younger kids with a life guard, and a pool that starts at 3.5ft and goes to I believe 11ft deep for stronger swimmers. For adults who prefer to watch than swim, there are loungers you can move around to catch or avoid the sun (easier in the afternoon when the sun is at the right angle). There are MANY children here so expect a boisterous vibe. It's restricted to Cambridge residents--you will need an ID, but it's free for residents. Note that it's attached to a school so I believe it's open from the first day of Summer (6/22) until labor day. Usually open from a little past 11 to 7pm.
It’s a nice pool for families and kids, the lifeguards seem to be paying attention and engaged, but the changing room is pretty dirty, and if you accidentally leave anything behind (such as a swim suit hanging in the shower) they throw it away. Literally. There is no lost and found, just a trash. The person at the front desk was markedly unfriendly.
Great kids pool that goes to 3 feet max. It never feels crowd because they control the capacity. Also, the life guards take their jobs seriously, which as a mom I appreciate. They also have a nice locker room. The pool area and locker room are very clean.
Relatively clean, on cloudier days is not crowded. Good staff. Remember to bring a piece of mail with Cambridge address!
