Pool at Foss Park featuring a splash pad and hot showers.
As an outdoor public pool, the Latta Brothers Memorial Pool's temperature is generally dependent on ambient weather conditions. Specific, consistently published pool temperatures are typically not provided for this type of seasonal outdoor facility, and it is not heated to a specific set temperature.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This is a free, Olympic-sized public pool that is generally well-maintained and reasonably clean, despite being open-air and experiencing heavy usage (with frequent cleaning and water quality checks). It is praised for its ample, attentive, and friendly lifeguards, making it a family-friendly place. Key advantages include free admission, extensive parking, and a sunny location. However, several drawbacks are noted: the pool can become very crowded, it's quite shallow (around 5 feet), there are no locker facilities, and the shower water temperature is unchangeably hot. The pool observes 15-minute breaks every two hours for lifeguard rest and water checks. To avoid crowds, it's recommended to visit right after opening (around 11 AM) or later in the day (after 5 PM or an hour before closing).

Huge Olympic size pool. Reasonably clean given it’s a public and open pool. Many lifeguards around. It’s free with loads of parking beside it. As a state pool, they have 15 mins break/pool check every 2 hours when everyone needs to stay out of water. It gives the lifeguards a break and a chance to check for water quality. If you want to maximize your time in the water, you can time it to avoid the pool check. If you want to avoid the crowds, either go very early right after they open or very late like an hour before they close.
Nice long and wide pool, kept pretty clean compared to other in local DCR pools (minimal leaves in water), water is a little cooler than indoor gym pools but it's perfect on 70+ degree days. Very well kept pool and facilities, although the shower water is hot and you can't change it. I hope that gets fixed soon. The hours are not bad and the pool is in the sunny area of Foss park (no trees block the sun to the pool). My new favorite Mass DCR pool for the summer season.
Pros: 1. Good swimming pool(claimed to be olympic length). 2. No cost, fairly well maintained for a public swimming pool. 3. Friendly, attentive staff and lifegaurds(4 around the sides of the pool). 4. Family friendly place. Cons: 1. No lockers, not even paid options. 2. Often very busy , many people will hangout and move arbitrarily and disrupt you if you are attempting to swim in lanes. Expected in public pools i guess. 3. Open air pool , and heavy usage means bottom of pool is filled with leaf litter and some other unwanted objects. Though it is frequently cleaned and tested for water quality. 4. Very shallow pool, just about 5 feet in depth. Overall its a really good pool, best to go just after 11:00 AM opening or after 5:00 PM. Those are the times when the pool is least crowded.
Great placexperience to bring the kids. Always clean and up to par. Lifeguards are good a Lil to strict but yes there young. Overall between the lifeguards and the cleanliness ND area this pool is great..
