Public swimming pool with lifeguards.
As an outdoor public pool, the Lloyd Memorial Swimming Pool is generally unheated. Its water temperature naturally fluctuates with the ambient air temperature and sun exposure, typically warming up throughout the summer season. Specific daily temperatures are not consistently published.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives mixed reviews, with many patrons praising its cleanliness, size, and suitable depth for all ages. Positive aspects frequently mentioned include friendly and watchful lifeguards, warmer water temperatures compared to other DCR pools, and recent additions of benches. Parking is generally considered ample. However, there are significant criticisms regarding the inconsistent enforcement of policies, especially concerning personal chairs for individuals with disabilities, leading to a highly negative experience for one elderly patron involving a supervisor. Other concerns include a general lack of benches (though some new ones were noted) and issues with the cleanliness and usability of shower and toilet facilities, with changing areas sometimes being roped off. The pool is also noted to be in full sun, advising visitors to bring hats and water.

I was very pleased with this pool. Very clean and well kept and the lifeguards were really friendly and watchful. The only bad thing: i wish there were more benches since bring your own chairs are not allowed. Very good overall.
My kids love coming to the pool here. We like the new benches installed along the pool deck, the shower facilities, and the water being warmer than most other dcr pools. Bring a hat and water- this place is full sun!
I am elderly and need to be in a zero gravity chair due to a serious back injury. I called them on the phone about a month ago and asked if I could bring my chair. I was told I could. I went there TWICE alone and had no problem using my chair. However 2 weeks ago I came with my chair alone again and was told by the young man there that I couldn't bring my chair in. I asked him to call his boss, which he did. I explained to his boss JOHN KELLEY that I was disabled due to my back injury and he allowed me in with my chair. Next thing I know I am lounging in my chair-- not in anyone's way mind you as I counted 13 people in the pool with about 6 people sitting on the cement on towels-- when from behind me comes JOHN KELLEY telling me I couldn't lounge in my chair. I pointed to another lounge chair at the other end of the pool that no one was sitting in as they were in the pool. I asked him why and he said I could sit upright in it but couldn't lounge in it. SERIOUSLY??? The other 2 times I was there many more people were there as there was on this day and no one said anything to me. Totally ridiculous!! This JOHN KELLEY was basically bullying an elderly person for no other reason but to throw his weight around as he was the supervisor there. I couldn't believe it!!! I CAN'T sit upright in the chair for very long because it puts pressure on my lower back causing pain. I am writing all this to WARN ALL ELDERLY PEOPLE NOT TO GO THERE!!! I called a state government office about this and have been waiting for someone to get back to me. During this time of Covid and so much uncertainty in this country--we should be HELPING each other not HURTING each other!!! This man was nothing but a big bully!!! I hope he sleeps well at night but I doubt it. People like him are very unhappy within themselves--which most bullies are--and pick on people weaker than them. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!!! I sincerely hope that he loses his job over this for next year as I believe that the pool will be closing at the end of this month. Here are the photos I took of the pool and how many people were there. Also the showers and toilets are disgusting and the changing area is roped off and not in use. I , for the life of me, just don't get it!!! SMH
