Tufts Pool, located within the Steve Tisch Sports and Fitness Center at Tufts University in Medford, MA, is an 8-lane, 25-yard lap pool. It serves as a vital facility for Tufts varsity swimming and diving teams, club sports, and general recreational swimming for the university community.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Tufts Pool is generally viewed as a good place for summer swimming, offering a well-maintained L-shaped pool with varying depths (4', 6', 12' deep, plus a 3' secondary pool) and classes for both kids and adults. Reviewers highlight friendly and occasionally accommodating staff, with some even having memorable experiences due to staff discretion. Amenities include picnic tables, basic showers, and a location next to a park. However, there are significant drawbacks: Google's hours are incorrect (not open at 7 AM), and some find the actual operating hours restrictive, lacking morning options. The pool depths can be challenging for young swimmers, with the main pool being too deep for beginners and the wading pool too shallow. Other criticisms include a lack of shade on the pool deck, no lockers or hairdryers, and past issues with residency restrictions for entry. Registration is managed via medfordrec.com.

My family and I wanted to go swimming and it’s a really good place to enjoy your summer. The height is 4’ to 12’. - from Wes, age 7
Not gonna give a bad review, but people should know that the hours on google are incorrect. They are NOT open at 7AM.
Tufts Pool is walking distance from our house, so I want to love it. Unfortunately, I just can't. The hours are quite restrictive - no morning hours. The large pool is too deep for my five year old beginning swimmer but the wading pool is too shallow. There is no shade on the pool deck.
Had one of my best memories here. Some years ago, it was really hot and with my cousin and brother we decided to go swimming. We biked around and got refused by three crowded pools. So we went right out to Tufts Pool and got refused because we didn’t live in the area (we’re French). The guy at the desk saw us laying in front lawn, red from the sun, and I guess we were funny with our bikes, so he let us in. We had the swim of our lives. Thanks.
Friendly staff, well maintained L-shaped pool with 3 picnic tables for people to sit. They have classes for kids and for adults who want to elanr to swim but are scared to. 3 areas of the pool: 4' shallow, 6' intermediate, 12' deep area. There is a secondary smaller 3' deep pool next to it. Good summer seasonal hours. No lockers or hairdryers, but basic showers. Pool is next to the park. Registration is at medfordrec.com
