Relaxed, family-owned health club and gym with a pool offering classes, weight training and personal trainers.
The 25-meter lap pool at Waverley Oaks Athletic Club is maintained at a comfortable temperature of 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, there is a warm water pool, primarily used for therapy and lessons, which is kept at a warmer 90-92 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The gym receives mixed reviews, with a prominent concern being frequent and substantial price increases that many members feel are not justified by the facility's quality or by services (like classes) they do not utilize. Customer service is inconsistent; some members praise the staff for cleanliness and timely equipment maintenance, while others report unfriendly front desk staff, an unapproachable Fitness Director, and a perceived lack of action on serious issues such as locker theft and older male members making young women uncomfortable. While some find the gym well-equipped and visually appealing, others point out issues with basic amenities and the overall infrastructure. Despite these criticisms, a subset of members express strong satisfaction with the variety of classes offered (e.g., Zumba, water aerobics), the good equipment, and the motivating fitness environment.

The gym itself is well-equipped and visually appealing, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The front desk staff tends to be unfriendly, and the Fitness Director, Jon Mack, comes across as unapproachable and rigid. Membership fees are extremely high, and the quality of the equipment doesn’t justify the cost. Additionally, there’s a recurring issue with older male members making young women uncomfortable while they try to work out. something that really needs to be addressed
Genuinely please do not come to this gym. My boyfriend and I have gone here for about a year now and have had the worst interactions. Just to set the scene, it is a norm for people to steal out of lockers. There are several accounts of theft and no action to combat that. The staff doesn’t care about quality customer service and the gym conditions reflect that. Not ever the type to write reviews but will be revoking my membership soon.
Use to love this gym, but now seems like it is time to go. Too much price increase over a 3 year span. Start off by saying I have the VIP wellness tenant membership since I work in the complex. Watched that price go from $75 a month in 2022 to now $95 a month in 2025. There was an increase in 2023 to $85 a month with an explanation being increased energy and operational cost. Funny how now they decide to swap out the light fixtures to more efficient LED lights from traditional in 2025 something that should have been done years ago. Not to mention the building isn't new by any means it is a retrofitted building with old piping and utilities. Water bubblers and bottle fillers routinely don't work because clearly no one knows that you need to clear the filters out of them. That's why the bottle fillers don't flow properly. When it went to $95 a month in April 2025 there was not an explanation just an added benefit of being able to take classes and group sessions. Well what if a member doesn't want to take classes or group sessions, some of us just want a gym that we can go lift some weights and do some cardio after work at. Eventually these increases are going to lose the club a lot of membership. Waverly is starting to go closer and closer to Lifetime Fitness cost and the facility is a joke in comparison. April 2025 will be my last month there, I had great workouts there but sadly the upper management has decided to leave out a large portion of gym-goers and cater to those wanting to participate in classes at the expense of everyone else. I will add that the staff there is excellent and hard working. I constantly see cleaning and when equipment is broken it is fixed or replaced in a timely matter.
I joined in December 2022, it was a good overall experience until recent price increase. Sorry, it's getting too expensive. I didn't attend any classes and wasn't really looking to do so, but it seems that every member is paying for having those classes available. I wish there was an option to exclude class attendance just like one can exclude use of pool and not pay extra $20. Same for the classes. If I don't use them why charge me 95$ per mo ? It used to be cheaper, but with a recent price increase...I don't know, I am considering just dropping that membership and just use another gym.
Really glad I joined Waverley Oaks. I enjoy Zumba dancing classes, water aerobics, lap swimming, and a variety of other classes. Good equipment also. I enjoy getting fit amongst motivated people of all ages and sizes.
