About

The Haselwood Family YMCA, located at 3909 NW Randall Way, Silverdale, WA 98383, USA, is a comprehensive community center offering a wide range of facilities and programs. It features a modern fitness center, multiple group exercise studios, a gymnasium, and an aquatic center. The YMCA provides various services including fitness classes, swim lessons, youth sports, childcare, and community events, aiming to promote health and well-being for all ages.

The Haselwood Family YMCA's aquatic center includes a Warm Water Pool (Recreation Pool) typically maintained at 88-90 degrees Fahrenheit, a Lap Pool kept at 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit, and a Hot Tub with temperatures ranging from 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Overall, reviews for the YMCA are mixed but lean positive for general facilities and staff, with significant negative feedback directed at a specific branch. Positive aspects highlighted include cleanliness, well-maintained equipment, fresh locker rooms, friendly and helpful staff, a strong sense of community, and a good variety of fitness classes. Childwatch and toddler areas are also appreciated. However, recurring complaints include a toddler pool slide consistently being closed, and a severe decline in quality at the 'Haselwood YMCA' post-Covid. Issues at Haselwood include an ineffective sauna, lap lanes being inappropriately used for water aerobics without proper communication, a shallower pool, removal of kid-friendly amenities (like a jungle gym and cafe), introduction of paid services (massage chairs), and a perceived lack of community, with a focus on profit. Another general concern noted is members hogging gym equipment while on their phones.

The first thing that I noticed about the YMCA gym is how clean and well-maintained it is. The floors are always spotless, the equipment is always in good condition, and the locker rooms are always fresh and tidy. The staff at the YMCA gym is also amazing. They are always friendly and helpful, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to help you find what you need. One of the things that I love most about the YMCA gym is the sense of community. There are people of all ages and fitness levels at the gym, and everyone is always supportive and encouraging. I also love the variety of fitness classes that the YMCA gym offers. Whether you are looking for a high-intensity workout or a more relaxing yoga class, the YMCA gym has something for everyone. Overall, I am so impressed with the YMCA gym. It is a clean, well-maintained gym with a friendly and supportive staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to get fit and healthy.

Great facilities! Toddler area and childwatch while I work out are perfect. Staff are friendly & helpful. I am so very disappointed that we can't ever use the toddler slide! It is a big disappointment for my toddler. EVERYTIME he sees it, I have to break his heart and tell him no 😭 Edit: I am talking about the toddler slide in the pool. We enjoy using the pool and have taken the parent/toddler swim class. We are really excited to use the small child water slide, but it is always closed.

I have no idea what has happened to the Haselwood YMCA post Covid!! I initially started here in 2018. Then things shut down for Covid. I tried to come to come back when they opened back up, and it wasn’t the same. I stopped the Y all together. Someone told me about the Bremerton Y. I started to go to Bremerton YMCA 2 years ago. The Bremerton Y is older, but EVERYTHING about it is 100% better than Haselwood. The Bremerton Y pool is currently closed temporarily to fix an issue and cleaning etc.. I decided to give Haselwood a try this AM to use the lap pool to swim. BIG MISTAKE!! Ruined my whole morning. I went to the sauna. It’s not hot enough at all. It should have never been built into the pool area. It seems humidity from the pool area gets in. What a waste! Lap lanes were full. Multiple People were sharing the lanes though. I did get into the first lane. There was a woman doing a personal water workout to me. I just took the other side from her to swim back and forth. I’m swimming for maybe 15-20 minutes when I was told to exit the lane if I was not participating in the water aerobics class. The lap lane next to me had 4 different people sharing and swimming. That lap lane was taken over for the water aerobics class as well. When we were there first! I mentioned that the water aerobics class had the whole other pool and there was plenty of space for this class to fully participate over there. I was told that this is in the schedule and I have to get out. I haven’t been to this Y in years now, nor should I have to look up the schedule before coming to the Y. Communicate this on a board somewhere so people can see when they arrive and know what to expect. People were lined up waiting for lap lanes. The small pool where (the big blue slide that is NEVER ALLOWED TO BE OPEN) was coned off. They didn’t direct me to any other place I could swim. Bremerton Y does not allow water aerobics classes in the lap lanes. Also, I don’t understand why Haselwood pool is shallow. Only 6 feet compared to Bremerton which is 12 feet. I saw they removed this big jungle gym they had for kids that was near child watch. Why? What a shame! They also removed the coffee/snacks/lunch cafe. They put in two massage chairs that you have to pay extra for. Why? What a shame! When I all ready pay over $140 a month for two adults and a ten year old kid. Employees at Haselwood are not down to earth. There is no sense of community here. I feel the Haselwood Y has turned into some ENTITLED RICH PEOPLES club. It seems as if they are more worried about $$$ now. Why? What a shame! Heed my warning don’t go to the Haselwood YMCA!! It Will ruin your whole morning, afternoon, night whatever time you choose to do something positive for yourself.

Great gym but something needs to be done about people regularly camping out on gym equipment for 30+ minutes because they're on their phones. Happens regularly.
