Fantastic place, great pool, facilities and work out gym. Yes, you will have to schedule your pool laps time around other groups, ask when they are arriving. Lovely to swim and then use jacuzzi facilities afterwards. Genuinely decent people using and working in gym.
I use a wheelchair part time and the thing I love most about this rec center is that ALL of their wheelchair lifts and elevators are ALWAYS working. I have never had to leave because they weren’t operational and the life guards will even clear the pool for you if you need them to. My husband, kids, and I love this place and go as often as we can. The gym is emmaculate and all of the equipment is well maintained. They offer community exercise classes and other enrichment and I know that there’s a pickleball league of some kind. The staff are always friendly and helpful and I can’t rave enough about it. The hot tub is always clean and the family locker rooms are so accessible for wheelchairs. One of the few places I don’t have to call ahead and check.
My husband and I recently joined. I have been very pleased over all. The employee there are very nice. The life guards a awesome. They take there jobs seriously.
I do enjoy the pool. I find the employees very pleasant, sometimes the lifeguards are a little aloof to the behavior of some of the children. I feel like they turn a blind eye to behaviors that seem to be a little extreme, especially in the lazy river. They seem to not want to be the “bad guy”. I also witnessed a lady who changed her child ‘s soiled diaper in front of the pool, which I find to be very unsanitary, and a potential biohazard. This was all in front of a lifeguard who didn’t seem to care.
I’m extremely disappointed with the way my wife was treated by staff at Central Recreation Center. She was denied a refund under circumstances that were unfair and not clearly explained. A staff member named David handled the situation and was completely unprofessional in his communication and attitude. This is not the kind of service we expect from a community-focused facility. We will be reconsidering whether to return, and I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the issue properly.
