Horrible experience. The bees are awful. Maintenance came and said there wasn’t much they could do because it’s hot and they are swarming. Mind you they were out in the 57 degree weather at 6 am. My mother ended up getting stung. With the kind of money they make they could hire a company to come fog or spray the whole park. If you have to use the bathroom be prepared to walk a mile. Unless you purchase a nicer cabin with a bathroom. Not much to do. Zip lining hasn’t been reopened since Covid. We are going on 2026. Asked a worker for directions and he said he never been down that road before. Also workers need a math lesson. Worms are $5 a cartoon. Gave the women $5 she goes here is your change and gave me a $1 back. My parents went to the canteen and got a pop. It was $3 they paid with a $5 bill and was given $3 back. The park was overall clean. It just isn’t the same as it used to be. Definitely prefer KOA Port Huron.
Stayed at the full hookup dog friendly site. If you are in the inner circle, you have a very tight spot. If you have an outer spot, much bigger space for dogs to run around. We booked last minute for Labor Day weekend. Nice huge park and plenty of playgrounds. Most areas are "no dogs allowed" which was kinda a bummer. There are camping sections that are dog friendly, would have liked to see a fenced in dog run or area I could let my dog play. Another downside I didn't like the fire pits so close to the camper, they cannot move and sites are right on top of one another. I felt like I was in my neighbor's space. We did enjoy our time though, plenty of paths to ride bikes.
On Friday September 19th, 2025, My husband and I drove over an hour to go look at this campground to see if it would work for us for a near future camping trip(spring/summer 2026). Upon arriving we stopped at the gate and explained to the worker what it is that we would like to do and let her know that we drove over an hour to get there. Her attitude sucked at best and she informed us that nobody is allowed to drive through on weekends(fri, sat, sun), only Monday-Thursday. When I asked to speak with someone in the office(like a manager) she informed me that she had let someone drive through on a Friday last week and she got yelled at for it. I didn't ask for an explanation, I asked to speak to the manager directly so that I could explain that we drove a long way to look at their campground and planned on booking a site for next year once we had a site picked out. I guarantee we will not be back and I have notified several of our camping friends about what transpired. You have not just lost our business, but the business of at least a dozen others! Really, what does it hurt to let people drive through your campground on a Friday at 12:30pm in board daylight? Seriously?? Even if they need to purchase a visitor pass, what would it have hurt? Does your campground have something to hide Friday-Sunday? Sounds to me like you guys do. Thats pretty shady if you ask me and not everyone likes reserving campground sites without looking at them first. I suggest you do better!
Definitely changed, money hungry. First thing, I called office because I couldn't find check in time, I was rudely told, that I received an email that i clicked that i had read, that if in fact i read that, i would know check in time! No more family get away vibes. Things that were free, included with your stay are now 5x more expensive. Paddle boats were included, then $5 per use, now $5 per person, 50 minute maximum usage. Canteen was fun and affordable, now games all $1 even for teenie little prizes, and machines broken so cost $1.50-$2 per game, kids food $10 each for hamburger or chicken stripe with fries. Biggest scam, after seeing that green cabins didn't come with mattresses, I called the office instead of booking online. I was told no, that was just during covid, that in fact they did come with the 5 mattresses..... when we arrived I found no mattresses or even garbage bags in trash cans! When I called, the office told me sorry for being given false information. If I wanted mattresses,I would have to pay $15x4 twin mattresses and $30 for the full size one! Lastly... the pool was GREEN the whole stay, and freezing cold like water was fresh from the hose. I won't be back, and I have and will continue to tell anyone that asks about the "new" camp dearborn
Do not swim here unless you want the stomach flu for a week! My family and I were scoping out new places to swim and decided to check out this place. Which turned into a horrible experience. There was animal feces all over the beach. Beach goers were stepping in it like it was just another day. This should’ve been my indicator to pack up and leave but instead we swam anyways. After we swam, everyone in our group started to feel off and had an upset stomach. Over the next few days our whole group ended up getting the stomach flu from the absolutely disgusting condition this beach was in. Not sure why the beach was covered in animal feces or why the property management didn’t take care of it. Either way, it’s a health hazard and I’m sure got a lot of others on the beach got sick as well. This is a first for me and I’ve never been sick from swimming at a beach. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to this place not even for a family picnic.
