Sept 2023 update: love this pool, the gentleman at the front desk is THE most awesome person ever! Super nice and always greeting me with a smile! Lifeguards are amazingly nice, pool is great as always. They are nice not to blast music for us older folks to enjoy a quiet peaceful lap pool swim. Great job Hawkins pool ☺️☺️ Fist review 2019: BEST POOL EVER!!! Love this place. I am visitor to El Paso, I come 3-4 times a year for the past 7 years and this has been the pool of my choice since day 1. The pool temperature is perfect, not too cold not too warm. I do not like swimming in cold temperature pools. 4 years ago I remember coming to hawkins and their pool heater had broken down in the middle of winter. It was horrible and unpleasant. I do lapses for one hour and by the end i was shivering in the water. But that was pretty much the only time it was that cold. Some days I feel the water colder than others but all in all it is usually pretty pleasant. The other great thing is that at the time that I go it is always quiet ( I usually go between 12-1) . So quiet that I not only get the full lane to myself but by the end of my swim I have the whole pool to myself! Back in my home town in Ottawa, Canada I am used to swimming in a lane with at least 4 more people who always slow you down. This is why I admit that I had some of my best swims at Hawkins! The pool does not have any deep ends and that I find a little odd but it doesn't really matter to me!! The change room needs cleaning though. The ladies showers are always dirty full or hair and the paint from the floor comes out and stick all over your shoes but again this is not a big deal for me. Back home the showers in our pool have normal shower heads with hot water. This shower has just a little bit a lukewarm water coming out so it's not the best but I always take a full shower at my hotel afterwards. The other thing that I love about Hawkins is the staff. They are super friendly and nice. I take half an hour to shower and get ready after my swim and usually I'm there at closing time but never once have they complained or tried to kick me out or even rush me. They always wait for me patiently! The one thing I have to mention is that if you are paying cash for your swim, make sure you bring the right change($3). They usually don't have change for a 10-20 or bigger. I had just arrived in El Paso and had a $100 bill from the US exchange booth so they sent me next door to the golf range restaurant to get change!! Great Pool and I can say I really miss it! Can't wait to go back in the fall time when I return to El Paso!

I would like to say that the staff at this Rec Center do a great job in swim lessons for children. I am impressed on the skills that they teach for level 2 and level 3. They also have small classes and I feel it is better so they can concentrate on the students skill set. We have attended other locations and noted the bigger the class which equals to less time spent on each student.

This is a great pool and very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Victor does and outstanding job and you can tell he enjoys his job.

Nice!!! Not crowded. Kind of old but decent. And important to me was the stairs to get in and out of pool. Ladders have such small steps. Other than that very enjoyable.
