What are people saying (AI review summary)? This public pool, often described as a community gem, receives high praise for its fantastic and professional staff, including security and numerous lifeguards, and for maintaining comfortable capacity even when busy. Patrons appreciate the variety of amenities, which include diving boards, a deep-water section, a beach entrance, a popular water slide, and an extensive kids' area with a mushroom fountain and whale. Safety protocols, such as regular lifeguard breaks and position changes, are well-regarded, as is the overall cleanliness. Many note recent improvements and a new pump. However, there are significant negative experiences reported, specifically regarding the pool closing early or not adhering to posted hours, preventing entry and pass purchases. A serious concern was also raised about an employee witnessing a child being assaulted by another child and failing to intervene.

For a public pool, this was very hard to top. The staff was fantastic, starting right off with the guy doing entry security. He was fantastic. The park staff was also great. Young crowd but operated professionally and fun. The capacity was very comfortable despite being busy and the pool felt fantastic. Just an awesome spot. Props to those who run this place. We’re lucky.
My favorite pool to swim at in the summer diving boards a section of roped off for deep water swimming and a beach entrance a water slide kids area off to the side with a mushroom fountain and a whale that squirts water and this year they got a new pump so hopfully we get a lot of summers with this pump installed
Amazing community/city swimming pool (within Richmond Park) in Grand Rapids! The slide and the 2 diving boards are great attraction for kids. The very large area for gently slopped kiddie splash/pool is great for little toddlers. There is plenty of poolside space to lay down beach towels or folding chairs. A several benches located along the fences all facing the pool as well as covered picnic tables within the perimeter of the pool. There were about 9 life guards (including 2 dedicated to the water slide) on active duty as well as supervisors and others circled the pool periodically. The pool has 5-min break every half an hour which also includes lifeguards position change. I believe this is a well adopted protocol of the public pool safety. I’d recommend to check their open swim hours before you head over (below is summer 2019). We had a good time being there for 3 hours and it wasn’t very crowded on Friday afternoon, but I’d imagine that the pool might be more crowded on hot days or weekends. I was surprised to see it opens only 12-4 on Sunday. I’d recommend this pool to anybody due to the safety & cleanliness through out the poolside. I think GR’s Parks & Recreation did a great job with 2013 Parks Millage and this pool shows the improvement. We love Richmond. Even when it's at full capacity it doesn't seem over crowded. The splash area is great for young kids. And the waterslide is a favorite.
Sure would be awesome if you were open when your hours say you were open instead of not letting people in or letting people purchase pool passes because you shut your system down early in anticipation of closing. Here with my kid looking forward to a quick dip but guess I'll turn around and walk her sad ass home so you can close early. Literally saw you pick up the computer and take it to the back when we walked in. Boooooo P.s. my son was beat up by an older kid one time here, an employee saw it, and nobody did anything. Went to the pool and asked about it when I got home from work, they confirmed they saw the whole thing and did nothing
