What are people saying (AI review summary)? Potterfield Pool receives mixed reviews. Many first-time visitors praise it as a fantastic, family-friendly destination with an Olympic-size pool, diving well, and water slides. Staff are consistently described as fantastic, sweet, and encouraging (especially with swim tests), contributing to a well-run and enjoyable atmosphere with fair prices. However, some long-time patrons express significant disappointment with recent changes. Criticisms include the closure of the concession stand (requiring guests to bring their own food/drinks, no glass), strict new rules such as mandatory swim tests for adults and limitations on diving board use, and a general feeling of over-regulation. Reviewers also noted the pool can be very crowded, leading to a lack of chairs, tables, or grass space, and questioned the need for security, viewing it as a negative sign of changes within the city. These changes have led some to feel it has lost its appeal compared to past experiences.

This was our first visit here which happened to be the last day of the season and I’m so sad. We didn’t try it out before. We had such a fantastic time. my six-year-old was really nervous about taking the swim test and frankly I wasn’t 100% sure if she could pass it. The lifeguard was super sweet and encouraging, and she passed it with no problems. She was super proud of herself. We will definitely be back next year.
Great place to bring the kids for poolside fun. Olympic size swimming pool, with diving well, and three water slides? Yes please. The staff was fantastic and the facility appears to be run very well. Get your swim tests done early in the season and enjoy all the perks of Potterfield Pool. Thank you for being awesome.
Went this past weekend with my family for the 1st time and we had a great experience. Staff was nice, music was good. And it was a laid back chill family friendly environment. The prices to get it was fair. The only thing I will say, is that their concession/food stand is no longer open so you have to bring your own food and drinks. You can bring in a cooler they just asked don't bring any item that glass. Overall real good experience.
Haven’t been here In 10-15 years. Decided to come one day this summer, used to be a lifeguard there when I was a teenager in high school, some of the best days of my life. Not anymore. Get there And im 41 years of age and told I have to take a swim test, thought it was kinda lame to make adults do that but I was ok with it, before I took the swim test I asked what was allowed and not allowed to do on the diving board, I was told nothing but jump off facing forward. Pretty sad that kids and adults can’t do anything anymore without being Reprimanded or kicked out. The more and more rules you put on people they will stop coming. This pool was my favorite place to be as a teen and I was highly disappointed what it has turned into over the years. I guess one person got hurt and now the whole city has to suffer the consequences. And security at the pool was a big red flag. What has our city become that we need security at a pool?
Potterfield pool is just a quick little splash for the kids and then time to go home, its way to crowded there and never enough chairs, tables or even grass space to sit.
