The swimming pools at the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center are typically maintained at comfortable temperatures suitable for a variety of activities, including lap swimming, water aerobics, and general recreation. What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Richard Showers Center is highly praised as an accessible, clean, and family-friendly facility with ample parking and excellent restrooms. Key attractions include a popular splash pad with shaded picnic benches for parents, a fantastic and affordable pool (both indoor and outdoor implied across reviews) with clean locker rooms, observant lifeguards, and fun diving boards. While the playground lacks shade, making morning or early evening visits ideal, the facility often hosts food trucks and is a great venue for family reunions and community events like picnics or 'trunk or treat' festivals, sometimes with police on-site for safety. Beyond recreational facilities, the center is valued for its programs, especially summer day camps, which are a significant asset for families and working mothers, highlighting its role as a supportive community resource. The only minor suggestions for improvement include adding shade to the playground and some internal upgrades to the aging building.

Super accessible and clean facility with plenty of parking and great restroom setup. Kiddos love it. I loge the shaded picnic benches for moms~
We have used the splash pad many times! There is shade for parents and picnic tables for meals. Ice creams or food trucks often come by. The playground is not shaded, so the best time is morning or early evening for that. The pool is fantastic! It is clean, affordable, and has locker rooms. Every time we go, the life guards are very observant and on top of their rules, but reasonable. Their swim test for kids has been clearly instructed, and they allow kids to test with goggles. The diving boards are super fun and finally fixed!
It was very nice. The church had a picnic there. It's a very good place to have family reunion's and more. They hsve an indoor pool. It was awsome and I would go again. You should check it out.
I have a long relationship with the Richard Showers Center. It is a great place with room rentals but the programs make it so great for families especially single working moms. Their summer day camp was a life saver for me and now they support me in my efforts to pay it forward to the community. They have truly been a needed asset in our community so Thank you to the staff of the center.
Pink Shellz hosted our first trunk or treat fall fest here in the parking lot. It was great seeing the costumes. Police was on site for safety. No issues at all. The center could use some upgrades inside. This building has been around for a while. The splash pad was a great addition for summertime fun!
