Blue Cypress Park pool is a public, outdoor community swimming pool located at 5461 Golf Course Dr, Jacksonville, FL. What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Blue Cypress Park pool are mixed. Positives include that it is a new, clean, and beautiful facility, often using salt instead of chlorine, and generally having two lifeguards on duty. However, significant frustrations are reported: the pool frequently experiences unannounced closures, often for maintenance during operating hours or due to absent staff, leading to repeated disappointment for visitors. Lap swimming is a major issue, with no dedicated lap lanes and areas often inexplicably roped off, making it difficult for serious swimmers. Some patrons noted concerns about lifeguard conduct, including perceived neglect of duties and misuse of pool space for personal use. Other complaints include a lack of lounge chairs or shaded areas, and sometimes excessively warm water. Suggestions for improvement include earlier opening hours (e.g., 10 or 11 AM) and more accurate, upfront communication regarding closures and operating schedules.

They're supposed to be open, but I think the lifeguards keep going to the football game next door instead of actually doing their jobs. This is not the first time.
Today was my first day at Blue Cypress Park pool. I am so excited to have a pool in my community. I was truly looking forward to an opportunity to swim laps. I arrived at 11:30 and there were about 10 people in the pool participating in a class. This is great I thought! My goal today was to get in a thousand meters or 40 laps. Unfortunately, the lap pool was roped off at what I can only guess is the deep end. I asked a lifeguard and a manager if they would remove the rope across the pool and was told no. No reason given. Just a flat out no. So I improvised and did laps across the pool. Needless to say, I wasn't getting in a thousand meters today. Also the pool had to be 85 plus degrees. I was hotter when I left than when I entered. I am hoping for some improvements as time and trials move forward. It is a beautiful facility. Normally, I would take my family with me but we already have a pool. Just not a lap pool! LOL. And I would love to give five stars! So, I will visit again and hopefully modify my review to five stars!
The pool is nice and everything however there is no lap lane. When asked they said they wouldn’t know where to put it. However they have 1/3 of the “deep end” roped off for off duty guards and their friends. I was a life guard for years and have attended multiple pools for tournaments and fun and have never seen it roped off for guards.
The pool is new and clean and i think they use salt instead of chlorine. Everytime I've gone, there hss been 2 lifeguards on duty which is a comforting sight. My only complaint is there are no lounge chairs nor tables with umbrellas to provide shade. Perhaps some are coming? One more thing, they open at 1:00. I suggest thry open at 10 or 11 for seniors who like to get in some swimning or exercise early - and for young moms who would like to bring their little ones when the pool isn't crazy with older kids.
Lovely pool and I like this for the community, however, I don't think it makes sense to waste your time putting on your swimsuit with the kids and going here. Tried a few times and closed. Tried today July 7th at appx 3pm. When I went there with the kids, the staff says they are closed for maintenance, but will be open soon. My opinion is, if have to do maintenance, why not do it before opening hours, why do it 3pm when the pool is open from 1-7 (based on internet, as I tried before in same time frame and was closed). It came on the news that it will be opened for summer, well I guess maybe weekends and like some public holidays. We need more accurate information. Put notice or opening times at the entrances to the road so we can know. Very disappointing.... 😞 The kids were so sad, you could see their faces when they didn't get to go in, they were like "again!"
