What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives consistent high praise for its lifeguards, described as friendly, helpful, nice, and effective. However, patrons report issues with the pool's availability, noting it may not open to the public until after Memorial Day despite website information. There are also complaints about water cleanliness and bugs. A significant recurring concern is the lack of adherence to rules by patrons, particularly regarding no running, no diving/jumping, and throwing footballs that hit other swimmers, which creates a less enjoyable and sometimes dangerous environment. There's frustration over perceived inconsistent rule enforcement, where some infractions (like footballs hitting people) seem tolerated while others (like a child's jump) are strictly penalized, and the diving board is reportedly unavailable for use. The facility has clearly stated operational rules, including specific hours, a thunder policy, and staff discretion for rule enforcement, which includes a 'no diving' rule except for a diving well that opens by request and requires a swim test.
Reviews
The city approved hours are: Monday-Friday: 1-7 Saturday: 11-6 Sunday: 2-6 The pool closes 15 minutes early to accommodate time for cleaning up. There is no running, DIVING (in response to previous reviews), and proper swim attire is required. The pool will CLOSE if there is thunder (within 10 miles) for 30 minutes. That clock restarts every time there is thunder. Please trust that the lifeguards want to swim as much as you do. They don’t close the pool for “no reason”. The staff cares about the patrons, and you may be asked to leave or sit out per the lifeguard’s discretion (breaking pool rules, rough housing, etc) The diving well will open by request, and close occasionally, and patrons are required to swim a lap to prove swim ability. Call the Aquatics Office to see if the pool is open. There is no pool phone.
Despite what website says pool is not open to the public until after Memorial day. They were doing lifeguard training only. Waste of a drive out there.
The Lifeguards at this pool are so great! They are friendly and helpful. The pool sometimes has bugs but it’s not their fault since the pool is outside and Mother Nature. The people that come to this pool never listen to the rules and make the pool a less fun environment. Kids keeping running and jumping into the pool when it is a no dive and jump zone and is very dangerous. And there are kids who keep throwing footballs and hitting people even though the lifeguards tell them not too!! The pool is great but the neighborhood kids give the guards a hard time.
The water was dirty, bugs floating everywhere. They have a diving board but you can't use it. We almost got hit in the head with a football, while trying to give my daughter new swim lessons, then my daughter got told she had to take a time out for a belly smacker, a seperate life guard from the one on duty insisted they told her several times.. no they hadn't. So a football hitting swimmers is OK, but a kid can't jump? Definitely time to leave. I'll sweat out this heat before I ever come back here! The football stars can have this pool!!
