My grandson started going to swimming classes at Goldfish Swim School since he was 13 months old and he CANNOT swim at 4 years old . I decided to switch to Waterworks Aquatics Irvine where we were assigned to Ryan. He is the best instructor ever. Ryan is very nice, attentive, knowledgeable and patient. My grandson has improved a lot. I am very grateful. Thank you Ryan for all your support and hard efforts. You are the best. I will refer friends and colleagues to Waterworks Aquatics.
Waterworks is a great facility with fantastic staff! In just weeks, my son became a confident swimmer who enjoys every lesson. Tianna makes lessons fun and engaging using positive reinforcement to teach skills like floating, kicking, and breath control. She's able to adapt teaching methods to my son's individual needs and learning style. The lessons are tailored to his comfort level, never pushing too far, and always helping him achieve new milestones. Instructor Tianna is patient, calm, understanding and highly recommended!
UPDATE: After posting my original review of one star (included at the very bottom after the line), I was quickly contacted by Alicia, the regional manager, who listened carefully and took the situation very seriously. She offered us several coach options, and we were able to start with Coach Matthew — my son really enjoyed his lesson with him today. General Manager David also personally introduced himself, apologized, and made sure we were taken care of. We even received an apology letter from Coach Nikhil, which I read to my son at home — it made him smile. Because my original concern was about Coach Nikhil not being present and not showing care for my son during the swim meet, we’ve decided to pause swim meets for now and just focus on lessons. Maybe next summer we’ll try the swim meet again with a fresh start — hopefully with a coach who is available, encouraging, and shows care for all students. We’re feeling positive about this new chapter, and I’m hopeful that with Coach Matthew things will continue to go well. ——— ORIGINAL ONE STAR REVIEW (Sept 6th 2025) This review is not about the entire program — my son enjoys swimming here, and most staff are kind and supportive. But I do need to share my repeated negative experience with Coach NIKHIL, especially during the swim meet (the friendly competition event held every two weeks). Two weeks ago, during our first meet, we noticed a stark difference in how he treated his private student compared to my son. He was very engaged and encouraging with the other child, but barely acknowledged my 4-year-old until I pulled him aside afterward. It felt dismissive, but I decided to give him another chance. Today was worse. NIKHIL told us he would be at my son’s event, and my son was so excited. But when it came time for his swim, the coach never came out. I asked staff multiple times for help, and no replacement coach was provided until a lifeguard stepped in at the last minute. By then, my son was nervous and discouraged, and it showed in his swim. What made it especially upsetting was that I personally saw NIKHIL at the facility about 15–20 minutes before my son’s event, heading into the lunchroom — so I know he was there. I am deeply disappointed and angry, because I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a coach to offer a little encouragement to a 4-year-old at such an important moment. That pep talk could have meant the world to him, and instead he felt ignored. I also saw other coachs provide encouragements to their students so I believe this is common practice. I do want to acknowledge Asia, the program director, who was compassionate and supportive when I spoke with her, and she is working with us on a solution. If things improve — which I hope they will, given Asia’s reassurance and the good things I’ve heard from other parents about different coaches — I’ll be happy to update this review. But for now, I really hope Coach NIKHIL understands that his actions left a dent in my son’s feelings at a moment that mattered to him.
A huge shoutout to Coach Hein at Waterworks! He’s been absolutely incredible with our three-year-old daughter who has autism - patient, kind, and so darn supportive. In just a short time, he’s helped her make leaps and bounds we never expected. Can’t thank him enough! Highly recommend!
My kids took swimming lessons here twenty years ago and they loved it. Then I started using their indoor pool for daily walks and water exercises in their warm water indoor pool to help with my lower back pain and I love it. I go almost every day. The pool and the facility are clean and the staff is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend this pool for only $10 an hour. I also want to recognize Jose, the Waterworks employee who is there every day at 6:45 am to greet me with a smile and has been so helpful since I started using the pool two months ago. He is very patient and professional. I hope his boss values and appreciates him.
