What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this facility present a mixed picture, highlighting both strong positives and significant areas for improvement. Many members commend the friendly and welcoming staff, particularly mentioning Mary Jo and Kaylyn for excellent service and fostering a strong sense of community. Positive experiences include enjoyable tennis classes, well-maintained pools with attentive lifeguards, and a good selection of reasonably priced menu items. There is considerable anticipation and excitement for upcoming renovations. However, a consistent negative theme revolves around the assistant manager, Kris, who is repeatedly described as rude, unprofessional, and lacking in customer service, causing poor first impressions for potential clients. Several reviewers also note that the facility itself is in distress, appears dated (early 90s theme), and is in major need of renovations, citing damaged walls, missing ceiling panels, stinky locker rooms, and a cramped fitness area. This dated state leads some to question the high membership fees, despite an acknowledgement that renovations are planned.

I joined last fall for a play tennis fast class and had such a great time learning the game! This summer, added the family on, and we have all enjoyed the pools. The staff here is always friendly and welcoming - we especially love Mary Jo at the front desk, Kris is always availiable to answer questions or help with anything we need. I even got a sneak peek at the renovation designs from Mike recently, SO excited for whats coming! Great experience all around.
UPDATE: (I am having to repost this because Genesis is shady and removed my review). Not the best experience. First impression was terrible! Assistant manager Kris is very rude and doesn’t have any customer service skills whatsoever. Me, my husband, and friends wanted to take a tour and we were trying to find the entrance. We walked into the pool side area which is in the very front where we thought we could get to the fitness center and go to the front desk. As soon as we walked in Kris, says in a rude tone “We ask that you check in before you enter the pool area”. We asked “what is the way to get into the building where the front desk is”? He said “go in the front door”. Even though the pool is in the front of the facility and we weren’t aware that the main entrance is on the side in the side parking lot. As we walk to the entrance and get to the front desk he had made his way to the desk in that span of time. I don’t understand why an assistant manager would treat possible clients with such disrespect. The proper thing he could’ve done was showed us the way to get in through the pool side since we were both going to the front desk and let us know usually to get in is through the main building in the side parking lot if you were to become a member. When we were in the middle of our tour we crossed paths again with the manager and he proceeds to say “we meet again”. This is very uncalled for and VERY DISRESPECTFUL. I have never been to genesis and based on reviews and their website I thought this was going to be a fantastic health club based on pricing and amenities. Very wrong! In lots of distress and is in need of major renovation. Very early 90’s theme. Lots of damaged walls, ceiling panels missing, stinky locker rooms. Fitness area is very tight and cramped. Not worth $80+ and definitely not worth a family membership that is $100+. The tour guide was very helpful and informative though! She told us that there is upcoming renovations in October and should be completed by next pool season. After this project is completed they will update the Taylorsville rd location, which is also in major need of renovation.
My family and I have been members of Blairwood for a couple of years now and we couldn’t be happier. The facility is always clean, a great selection on the menu and reasonably priced. The lifeguards make sure everyone behaves and are quick with the whistle if anyone is acting in an unsafe manner. We always enjoy our visits.
Kris, the assistant manager, is two-faced and rude. Pool check-in associates are unsure of where to send guests for help. The facility is in distress, and hopefully, the update will improve upon that. The red-haired lady that was showing us the facility was very helpful and educated about the facility.
Blairwood is truly a special place. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming—especially the front desk team. Kaylyn went above and beyond to help me today, and her kindness made the club feel more like a resort than a gym. Everyone on staff plays a part in creating a sense of community, and it’s something you feel the moment you walk in. Blairwood has genuinely changed my life in so many positive ways, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of it.
