The Overtown Optimist Club at Theodore Gibson Park, located at 350 NW 12th St, Miami, FL 33136, USA, serves as a significant community center in the Overtown neighborhood. The park is a multi-purpose recreational facility featuring an aquatic center with a swimming pool, a gymnasium, playgrounds, and fields. The Optimist Club likely utilizes these facilities to provide youth development programs, sports activities, and community engagement initiatives, fostering positive growth and opportunities for local children and families.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? This park is generally well-regarded as a clean, manicured, and safe outdoor space, especially popular for children's activities and summer camps run by the Optimist Club, which receives high praise for its staff and programming. It offers ample shade, a track, and facilities for workouts and meeting new friends. Visitors are reminded to clean up after pets, be mindful of personal belongings by locking cars and not leaving valuables visible, and to respect all individuals encountered, including the unsheltered. A notable concern is the discrepancy between the stated park closing time (6 PM) and the actual earlier closing of indoor facilities, which has caused disappointment for some users. Despite this, staff are generally considered not rude, and the City of Miami is noted for its maintenance efforts. A nearby restaurant, The Lil Greenhouse Grill, is recommended.

this park is always clean and manicured, so if you come with your pet #CLEANUP after it, kids play here! There's plenty of shade, a track, and much more! BIG SHOUT OUT to all the folks who care for the kids and keep them safe. FYI The entrance to the optimist club and parking is on the west side near the school! OBTW, you may encounter a shelter less people avoiding the heat, they mean you no harm please respect them! You may also encounter chickens 😉and an addict or 2! However, like I said, our tax dollars are hard at work, and the City of Miami is always there. So, as with any outting, use your head #DON'T LEAVE VALUABLE VISIBLE, AND please lock your cars! This is an awesome outdoor kids space, and the optimist club caters to the kids! Check it out😉 and after ya outting, if ya hungry, walk on over to The Lil Greenhouse Grill. You won't be disappointed!
We have been so lucky to have obtained a spot in their summer camp this year, 2024. It’s a great local spot with amazing staff! Their programming is unbelievable, and the kids have such an amazing time!! Looking forward to having my son enrolled for this camp whenever possible! We have really been blown away!
Love the facility, was /am actually part of programs & great loving beautiful individuals that help contribute for the extension of the building. I'm a bit dissapointed that it says the park closes at 6pm & when I got to use the inside facility at 5pm I'm told that the facility inside closes before 6pm. The staff is not rude or inconsiderate at all. I do want to mention I didn't get my work out & I'm sure it's unfortunate for others who look at the time & it says it closes 6pm all week long & get notified once they get to the gym that it's a different story. I left without getting my workout in which also my medicine & that got interrupted . Suggestion please be more clear on here about the times. Divine peace & blessings
