In addition to lap swimming and lessons, this aquatic center also has a water park and activity pool.
The pools at the Pembroke Pines YMCA Aquatic Center are heated. The Olympic-sized pool is typically maintained in the range of 79-82°F (26.1-27.8°C). While specific temperatures for the instructional pool are not always published, it is generally kept at a comfortable, slightly warmer temperature suitable for lessons and rehabilitation.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for the YMCA Aquatics in Pines indicate a highly positive experience with their swimming programs, particularly highlighting instructors like Jordan, Ashley, and Jacob, who are praised for their professionalism, patience, and significant positive impact on children's learning and development. The facility is appreciated for its heated pool and suitability for events like birthday parties. However, there are notable negative experiences, including an incident of alleged racial profiling where a family felt targeted regarding wristband policies, and an unprofessional phone call where a staff member abruptly hung up when discussing summer camp pricing. While the aquatic instruction is widely recommended, these negative encounters point to inconsistencies in customer service and staff conduct in other departments.

We’ve attended the free “Swim for Jenny” swimming lessons and have had the luck and pleasure of having Jordan as our swimming instructor. He’s such a incredible professional, very patient, clear, knowledgeable, and gave understandable instructions. Jordan has made learning critical life skills much more fun to learn! We cannot thank him enough! The entire swimming instructors are super nice and all of the employees do not get enough credit, thank you all so much! An added bonus, is that the entire pool is also heated🥳, so you’re not freezing while learning! YMCA Aquatics in Pines is exceptional! I highly recommend them!
We hosted a 1st bday party here and we loved it! The umbrellas are so close to the splash pad, it made it easy to enjoy everyone’s company without having to walk far to get to the fun!
I enrolled my kids in January, and couldn’t be happier, I really can see a before and after in their lives. Instructors, coaches and lifeguards are great, kids love them and so do we. As an instructors we had Ashley and Jacob in the beginning and then Jordan, who had a big impact on both of my kids. Jordan besides being an excellent instructor is also a great person, can’t thank him enough for everything he has done. My oldest was able to join the swim team after 4 months, also very happy with both coaches, they are great! Maybe some departments aren’t perfect as many people mention but the most important part is excellent and that’s what matters most.
Me and my children and my husband came out yesterday to enjoy the water. My girls was having fun up until one point when we all felt racially profiled My girls was in a pool 3 1/2 hours. It was just their dad and my girls and the lifeguard soon as the pool started getting full with others. Caucasians now all of a sudden my daughters need their wristband changed and they need to go on the other side of the pool mind you we already was there hours. We were giving yellow wristbands at THE DOOR. I spoke to numerous of people I got five different stories. Nobody apologize. I spoke to Manager today. Same story. I guess everyone spoke today so now everybody have the same story today. We will never ever come back . It’s not for our kind. We will let y’all have this place . I told my husband when we pulled up I didn’t wanna go in.
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent phone call I received after submitting an inquiry form for your summer camp program. While I appreciate that someone followed up with me, the interaction was extremely unprofessional and left me concerned. When I mentioned that I was still looking into pricing & I see that it was high, the representative abruptly hung up the phone without giving me a chance to speak or ask any questions. Not only was this disrespectful, but it was also completely uncalled for—especially from someone representing a program that works with children and families. Offering financial assistance is a wonderful resource, but the way it was presented lacked both clarity and courtesy. If a staff member cannot communicate respectfully and patiently, that raises serious concerns about how they engage with others, especially children. I hope this issue is addressed appropriately, as no parent should have to experience this kind of treatment when simply seeking information.
