The Berkeley Heights Community Pool is an indoor aquatics facility located at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, a branch of the Summit Area YMCA, at 59 Locust Ave, Berkeley Heights, NJ. It serves the community by offering year-round recreational swimming, lap swimming, and a variety of aquatics programs and swim lessons for all ages.
The pool at the Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA is heated. While specific temperature figures are not publicly detailed, YMCA pools are generally maintained at comfortable temperatures, typically in the low to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 80-84°F), suitable for general use, lessons, and recreational swimming.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility receives mixed reviews. The pool is generally praised for its warm water, quality, and staff, with well-maintained equipment and a great water slide. However, many aspects of the pool complex and amenities are criticized, including broken umbrellas, limited and uncomfortable seating, a severe lack of shade, and an unappealing concrete-heavy environment lacking grass, games, or food options. The gym's membership is considered overpriced for its small size. The parking lot is widely deemed dangerous and poorly designed, with narrow lanes and sharp corners. There's a strong sentiment that the current facility lacks the community feel of the previous pool.

Recently joined after not joining for several years. Pool water is nice and warm. Areas for both adult and child swim. Unfortunately the rest of the pool complex needs improvement. Umbrellas are broken or fall over with the slightest amount of wind. Chairs are limited and very uncomfortable. Shade is non existent except for a small patch of grass. On the upper hillside of the pool exists an eyesore of rocks and dirt. Hopefully with such a nice pool it can be improved in the future.
This is nice. We usually go late afternoon but before the commuters and it’s busy but not crazy. The equipment is well maintained and the staff is nice. I like this location better than a couple others that I’ve been to in the area.
Four stars for the quality of the pool itself and its staff. One star for the community aspect. It's a great pool for a competition/swimming contest, but it's been made uncomfortable for families. No grass (just a sliver), no trees, no shade, no slide, no games, no food. Concrete galore. The parking lot is badly designed/dangerous. Narrow two-way lanes, sharp corners you can't make, no safe drop-off point for kids. The old pool, torn down around 2018, was a centerpiece for the community, where young families met and kids made new friends. It's really a crying shame, and Covid is not even to blame... Tip: Parking in the big lot to the left of the Y is your safest bet.
Great water slide, lots of shady places to chill.
The membership is over priced for such a small gym.
