What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews paint a mixed picture of the aquatic facility, highlighting strong positives for water aerobics and swim instruction, but significant negatives for lap swimming. Many users, particularly seniors, highly praise the water aerobics programs, citing excellent instructors (like Otis), engaging workouts, a great atmosphere, and a strong sense of fellowship. One reviewer specifically noted overcoming a lifelong fear of drowning thanks to the supportive instruction at Swansboro. The Swansboro pool is described as large and inviting. However, the facility receives strong criticism from lap swimmers, who report a lack of lane lines, other patrons interfering with swimming lanes, severely limited lap swimming hours (down to one hour a day), and poor communication regarding sudden schedule changes.

Very good water aerobics instructor and workout. Great fellowship, great atmosphere.
A great place for Senior water aerobics instruction and fellowship. I have been learning to swim also.
I've been 'learning' how to swim for a long time. Almost drowning as a child is part of my problem. I took lessons at the YWCA, and except for a couple of nice instructors, I found most rude, and at my last lesson, I was basically told they couldn't help me. Let that sink in. Then I went to SwimRVA, and the instructors were amazing. I loved them, but I just wanted to swim free style, and I got stuck on the 'Dolphin' maneuver. After nearly three months of trying and failing to dolphin, I ended up going to Swansboro and met a team of wonderful City Of Richmond instructors. I love Swansboro. I have found my place. The pool is large, inviting, and spacious. I also participate in Water Aerobics. It's great. I'm no longer afraid of drowning.
I love this pool and the instructor. Otis gives us a great workouts, and is very patient. He is an outstanding person. When the period is over, Otis always gives us important information an updates. I live about 30 minutes from this pool, but it's really worth the drive. I wouldn't change location for anything. Thanks Otis for all you do for seniors.
They are anti lap swimmers here. They never put up lane lines and people will randomly float into your lane or stand there for no reason. And now I’m told lap swimming is only allowed 1 hour a day 🙄 But if you’re coming for water aerobics, or to chit chat and float around aimlessly, you’ll probably love it. Oh also the hours will suddenly change and there is no way to know except by calling each day.
