Swimming center with an arts program and preschool featuring a gym and theater.
The pools at the Weinstein JCC are consistently maintained at a comfortable temperature, typically ranging from 84 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29-30 degrees Celsius) year-round.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The JCC receives mixed but predominantly negative feedback, with several long-standing issues and recent disappointments. Positive aspects noted include a welcoming gym community, often not too busy, and beneficial recent additions and size improvements to the gym area. However, significant concerns are raised across multiple areas: 1. **Facility Condition & Maintenance:** There are widespread complaints about dysfunctional water fountains, missing bathroom locks creating privacy risks, the pool door frequently being left open leading to high humidity and chemical odors, and locker room amenities (like the sauna) often being unavailable or not turned on. Recent 'improvements' are described as incomplete or hastily finished, failing to address core issues despite delays and investment. 2. **Membership & Inclusivity:** Membership fees are considered very expensive, and there are strong allegations of a lack of inclusivity, particularly for people with disabilities, leading to companies cutting ties. Accounts of poor employee treatment, including being 'fired' without notice, are also reported. Some members feel favoritism is shown towards 'rich valued members'. 3. **Management & Communication:** There's frustration over 'shady dealings by upper leadership,' issues with membership fee discrepancies, and a perception that leadership has not followed through on promises, leading to underwhelming outcomes despite continued timeline slippage. Customer service at the front desk is criticized for offering complaint forms rather than immediately resolving facility issues. The closure of the cafe, which was no longer truly Kosher, is also noted. Many loyal members express a feeling that the JCC is no longer the beloved place it once was, citing high costs, poor management, and a decline in quality and accessibility.

As of summer 2025, all of the water fountains are dysfunctional--no water. The locks on the bathrooms have been removed, but a sign saying 'please knock there's no lock on the door' has been added--huge privacy risk. The pool door is often kept open during summertime, so the humidity downstairs is 100% and it reeks of chemicals, not to mention the high heat. If you relay issues to the front desk, they ask if you'd like to fill out a complaint form. How about a running water fountain? Or at least remove the ones that do not work. It's rare that I post a review online, but the unusable fountains brought me here. Please fix this. Apologies for the frustrated tone.
Great Gym. Very welcoming community. Usually not too busy. improvements have made the gym larger with a few needed additions.
Used to love the JCC as kid and young adult but the last few years have not been kind to this once beloved place. The membership fee is very expensive and they are willing to negotiate for people with autism like me. They claim to be inclusive but many people with disabilities were made to feel unwelcome there to the point the company I work for cut ties with them after many loyal years. Was basically fired without being told so and noone would answer my questions about my next shift or even take my call. This has happened to a few loyal and wonderful employees I know. They got rid of the cafe and closed it and it was not true Kosher in years. Also they messed up my membership and am now out of over a hundred dollars. The front desk staff is nice and pool and gym but only for rich favorite vauled member. Many former members feel this way as well. Feel its not the place I loved and at too high a cost with shady dealings by upper leadership.
As someone who’s supported and looked forward to the improvements at the JCC, I’m disappointed by what’s unfolded. After months of delays, I had hoped the final product would reflect the time and investment that went into it — but unfortunately, the quality of the upgrades simply doesn’t meet expectations. The facilities still feel incomplete or hastily finished in places, and some of the core issues members were hoping to see addressed either remain or have only been partially improved. It’s frustrating to see continued timeline slippage paired with results that don’t reflect the disruption or anticipation. I genuinely want to see this center thrive, but it’s hard to stay enthusiastic when promises are consistently pushed and the final outcomes underwhelm. I hope leadership takes this feedback seriously and follows through with improvements that reflect the community’s trust and patience.
Locker room amenities are never open. If you’re lucky, they’ll make sure to turn the sauna on before you get there in the morning.
