The Redwood Recreation Swimming Pool, located in West Valley City, UT, is a year-round indoor aquatic facility part of the Redwood Recreation Center. It features multiple pools designed for various activities, including a lap pool for fitness and open swim, and a leisure pool with zero-depth entry, water features, and a slide, catering to all ages.
The lap pool typically maintains a temperature between 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit, the leisure pool is warmer at 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit, and the spa/hot tub is kept at 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Redwood Rec Center are mixed, particularly regarding the pool. Some visitors praise the pool for being clean and clear, noting attentive and helpful lifeguards, good depths (3-12 ft), and convenient changing rooms. However, a significant number of complaints focus on outdated official photos that depict a murky, unappealing pool, which contradicts reports of the actual pool being clean and blue. One highly negative experience detailed a single, distracted lifeguard and a head lifeguard making questionable decisions, including an unnecessary pool closure due to perceived thunder, leading to safety concerns and wasted time. On a positive note, the facility is also appreciated for its clean environment, gym, and racquetball courts, with mentions of 'good people' and general amenities, though administrative tasks like paperwork and needing an ID are noted.

The Pool is nice and clean, would certainly come again. They have a couple lifeguards watching over the area. Everyone seems nice and they were kind in answering any questions I had. The depths are 3-12 ft. Changing rooms and showers right by the gate. They certainly need need to update the photos. The pool is clear and blue, not at all like the murky green photos displayed.
We decided to try the Redwood Rec Center outdoor pool today. We were there only 20 minutes before deciding to leave. There was only one lifeguard watching the whole pool and this female lifeguard was so busy chatting with a guy in the pool she wasn't paying attention to anyone else. At one point, the guy in the pool actually pulled her down and she partially landed in the pool. There was even a group of day care kids there with only one adult and this lifeguard posted herself on the other side of the pool, away from these kids. This was ridiculous enough, but my kids can all swim so i just made sure my children were all ok and safe. After about 20 minutes the head lifeguard came out and decided to close the pool "due to weather". He said he heard thunder, but noone else heard the thunder. We saw him walking around the pool with his phone googling cloud formations. This guy had no idea what he was talking about. He said they had to wait for the clouds to pass before he would reopen the pool. It had been partly cloudy all day. Was he going to wait for all the clouds to pass? Granted there had been intermittent sprinkling but no heavy rains, thunder nor lightning. Everyone knows you get out of the water when you see lightning, not when a truck is rolling down Redwood Rd and you mistake it for thunder. It was a waste of time and money. Don't bother going here.
Good people, good amount of food. Bring ID and a cooler. Prepare for a small amount of paperwork.
The pictures of this facility look green and disgusting. Would never come here based off the pictures themselves.
