My experience at the South Jordan Recreation Center was extremely disappointing, and my frustration is entirely due to the lifeguard staff. The lifeguards are consistently stoic and unfriendly, creating a very unwelcoming atmosphere. The head guards were even worse—they seemed to have no sense of others being there and just walked around doing nothing. This lack of engagement and general unfriendliness is a major problem. Until they get a whole new group of guards, I will not be returning. This is the worst Salt Lake County rec center I've been to. The other facilities in the valley are staffed with helpful and pleasant people, so it's a shame that the South Jordan location falls so far short. Management needs to get better people or take notes from other rec centers on how to treat patrons.
We only went to the indoor pool, but it is very nice! I was impressed. The water isn't crazy deep, and the slides are quite fun. The lazy river route is nice and long (but with plenty of places to get out). The play structure was fun with lots of squirting water. My kiddo couldn't get enough!
At the end of my pool experience, I went to let one of the lifeguards walking the kiddie slide area know my kid lost his toy and wondered if she saw it... MID talking to her, she keeps walking, side eyes me, scoffs and says "ha no" 🫠 oh... dang, my bad girl 😂 they all had that fun vibe about them which made me really want to keep my head above water at all times hahaha The pool was cool though, 10/10 would recommend 😂 and the front desk girl was really sweet 🩷 I will be back, but I will make sure I don't look the lifeguards in the eye while in attendance 🫡
Lifeguard politely asked me not to nurse my baby BUT did not offer an alternative like a mothers room etc. if that’s your policy to not allow discreet nursing, you need a good alternative. Lifeguards just enforce the rules, so whoever creates the policies should think through them and have a good alternative. Nursing in a freezing locker room with my other toddler running is not a good alternative. Not young child or family friendly
The front desk staff are very friendly. The pool- they are extremely strict at this pool. Lifeguards are very unfriendly, even got upset with my 2 year old daughter for playing with one of the water features in the toddler area... not sure what is the purpose of having fun water features in the kids area if kids aren't allowed to play with them? Overall I wouldn't recommend going here with younger kids.
