The JBAB Pool, located at 100 McChord St, Washington, DC, is a recreational facility within Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. It typically features an indoor pool, open year-round for lap swimming, water fitness, and general recreational use, as well as a seasonal outdoor pool available during warmer months. The facility serves military personnel, their families, and authorized civilians.
The indoor pool at JBAB is generally heated and maintained at a comfortable temperature, typically ranging from 80-82°F (26-28°C) for year-round use. Specific temperature information for the seasonal outdoor pool is less consistently published, as it is primarily open during warmer months and usually relies on ambient conditions, though it may be minimally heated.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool complex is generally well-regarded for its extensive facilities, including multiple pools (wading, 3-foot, and a large pool with a diving board, slide, and climbing wall), ample seating, and shaded spots. Reviewers often highlight its uncrowded nature, suitability for families, and the availability of swim lanes, noting that staff ensure rules are followed, fostering a good community atmosphere for kids. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the facility's maintenance, particularly the need for resurfacing and serious repair, cleaning, and daily disinfection of the bathrooms and showers. Another point of contention was the disruptive practice of conducting children's swim tests ("tet swim") throughout the day, with suggestions for dedicated hours to avoid inconvenience to other swimmers.

Great pool! Really pool complex, wading pool, 3 foot pool, and then big pool with diving board, slide and climbing wall. Good amount of chairs and shaded spots for provisions. Nothing crazy, just does a nice job of checking all the boxes and not being smotheringly busy
It was good for my son who really enjoyed community with other kids. Safe staff that ensure the rules are followed! Enjoy the pool!
A great family spot for the military community. It can stand to be resurfaced and the bathrooms are in serious need of repair. The bathrooms have showers but are also in need of cleaning and disinfectant on a daily basis that is not currently happening. Expectation management is key.
Great pool, not too crowded. Lanes are available for swimming.
It's got a lot of space to swim and many tables and chairs to lay your things down The only annoying thing is they allow kids to tet swim all day, which means you have to be constantly moving away from one whole side while someone is testing. They should have isolated hours for kids to come and get tested.
