About

The Southern Regional Aquatic Wellness Center, located at 7011 Bock Rd, Fort Washington, MD, is a state-of-the-art facility offering a wide range of aquatic and fitness amenities. It features a lap pool, a leisure pool with a water slide and current channel, a therapy pool, and various fitness areas and community spaces. This center is designed to promote health, wellness, and recreation for all ages within the community.

The facility typically maintains the following pool temperatures: Lap Pool at 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C), Leisure Pool at 82-84°F (27.8-28.9°C), and the Therapy Pool at a warmer 90-92°F (32.2-33.3°C).

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The wellness center's reopening has been met with mixed feedback. While some users appreciate the clean changing rooms and the diligent lifeguards enforcing safety, there's significant frustration over the limited and inconvenient general/family swim hours, particularly for day-shift workers, which led one user to cancel their membership. There were also complaints about overwhelming noise levels at 6 AM due to socializing groups. Several negative experiences with staff were reported, including a rude receptionist, a loud and annoying lifeguard, and an unhelpful person answering the phone. Prior to reopening, the facility experienced a prolonged closure for repairs, leaving users questioning the duration and reason. Additionally, one user specifically requested music in the facility.

So excited the wellness center has reopened. As a retired senior with medical challenges, I've tried to find a comfortable timeframe to enjoy my water workout. My first thought was they open at 6am, I'm thinking/expecting not too much noise...wrong at 6am it's overwhelming noisy with the group that gathers for socializing during workout, super annoying and distracting. I tried mid day which is less noisy even with children being present. Children are allowed to use the therapy pool (no problem) the life guards are very on point with enforcing safety and maintaining pool rules. Thankful to the guards for doing a great job because clearly some parents aren't as mindful.

I've only been to this pool a few times for general swim and for the hot tub, and each time I've been there, I enjoyed myself. I'm giving two stars because this pool closed for repairs (temporarily, so they say), seems like a year or so ago for repairs, and there is no word on when it will reopen. This is the only indoor pool in my area and I would really like to swim after work without having to drive long distance from my home. Why is this pool still closed? It can't need that many repairs that it's closed this long. This aquatic center has not been there that long. What is the real issue? Well, I had to change my rating to one star after my second visit since the pool opened back up. I was so excited when I found out this aquatic center reopened after being closed for so long. I even purchased a membership. Then, the disappointment came when I visited for the second time after purchasing my membership. When I arrived and checked in on my second visit, I grabbed a schedule just to have so I wouldn't have to keep going online to check the times for general swim. After looking at the schedule, I realized the times were different and less accommodating than what's posted online (as of May 28, 2025). As you can see in the picture, general/family swim hours are very limited. These hours seem to be more inviting to retirees and people who work evenings and night shifts. If you work the day shift, you only have Mondays, Wednesdays, and the weekend for general swim. Oh, unless you don't mind a late evening swim and still having to get up early in the morning for work the next day, you have the 8PM to 9PM time slot, which is not entirely correct because the center closes at 9PM so you're not actually going to get that full hour. I know I won't be wasting my time to come to the pool for only a half an hour swim. And probably won't be there Saturday or Sunday either because besides their classes/programs, I'm guessing the weekend days are their busiest days, and this aquatic center is not that big. So, I guess I will just have to go to an outdoor pool that has more accommodating hours. I'm glad I only purchased the one month membership for $30. I don't think I will be renewing. Seems like this place is more for aquatic programs. I understand. I'm sure that's how they're making their money.
