What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this pool are largely negative, though cleanliness is occasionally noted as a positive. Recurring issues include inconsistent and inflexible rule enforcement by staff, particularly regarding the requirement for non-swimmers to wear swimwear, even when just supervising or picking up children. Several patrons reported frustrating experiences with staff, including one specific incident involving a verbally abusive manager named Kelsy Wood. The pool is also criticized for poor lap swimming conditions, such as crowded lanes, frequent closures of half the pool, or inconvenient lane reconfigurations. Other issues mentioned are the closure of the kiddie pool due to staffing and a general need for better facility management, especially concerning lane availability and clearer communication of rules.

This pool gets two stars… mostly just for being clean. Otherwise, it’s a mess. Particularly the staff, which seems not to be on the same page when it comes to rules and regulations. The latest example: My husband had taken my daughter swimming and I arrived at the pool to grab her from him and dress her while he finished up his laps. At the ID Check, I was told I could not enter the pool without swimwear on. Meaning, I could not assist my husband simply because I did not intend to swim. I have been to this pool countless times and have retrieved my daughter before from my husband (not intending to swim). It also seems PLENTY of parents come into the pool deck area all the time without swim wear on to either support their partners swimming with their kids (like for class) or watch them do swim practice. It’s ridiculous I, as a registered DC resident with the pool, was not allowed to come in to get my daughter just because I didn’t intend on swimming. This rule — or whatever it is because this is the first time I have ever encountered it — is UNHELPFUL to the public, particularly parents. DCPR needs to remedy this asap.
The experience was absolutely awful. When I visited over the weekend with my daughter, we were welcomed warmly by the front desk receptionist. However, upon entering the pool area, we found that the kiddie pool was closed. The manager, Kelsy Wood, informed us that the pool was closed due to staffing issues. When I asked when it would reopen, she responded in a verbally abusive manner, causing my eight-year-old to cry. She was exceptionally aggressive. I noticed another lifeguard in the booth and asked if he could open the pool since he seemed idle. Kelsy's customer service skills were dreadful. Her behavior was rude, unprofessional, and insulting. It's clear that she is not suitable for her position.
Terrible place to swim laps. They almost always have half the pool closed for a handful of people just floating around or switch the lanes so they go 20 yards perpendicular. Meanwhile the people actually swimming laps are on top of each other because there are only four shorter lanes. They also just took the lane lines out as I was swimming with no notice.
Almost 100° outside , I wanted to take my 10yo granddaughter to swim. I gave the recepionisist my ID, she asked her age. Then informed me that I needed a swimsuit to enter ( I don't own a swimsuit nor do I know how to swim) I was taking her there to swim while I watch. As it turned out, she's too young & I need a swimsuit NO WE DIDN'T WIN TODAY. I DON'T SEE ANYTHING ON LINE.....RULES OR REGULATIONS
Basic indoor public pool which has seen better days. Still a perfectly fine option for those looking to do a few laps. Room for improvement on lane management to accommodate the post-work rush.
