Today and Yesturday on July 4th, Its an absolute blessing, and return of a new reforming of the pool. The Waterslide almost gave me a Heart Attack, but is refreshing. Also was able to race through the 8ft pool other than the 5ft to less pool. If you are able to cool off this summer with this grand re-opening, Welcome.
The Lincoln Park pool manager should consider improving the current entry system. There is usually a long line of people waiting to enter the pool, and the wait times are very long. Proper management is needed to handle the crowd more efficiently. The current situation reflects poor organization and needs improvement. What is worse is people skipping the line. There is no line management.
The staff are friendly, respectful; the facility is gorgeous, lifeguards are on top of things and also seem to be enjoying their job. Friendly staff are walking around politely monitoring things, the music played is positive and fun, the restrooms are clean! There are strict rules in terms of food/ bags/ sealed water, and they do a great job maintaining this expectation and following through! There is a metal detector, and the security officer who scans you is SO friendly and engaging. I’ve been here several times with guests and we all have a great time!! Such good energy all around. It’s really beautiful:) I haven’t experienced a line yet, but I typically visit after 2. The concession stand will be a great addition next year! It may be helpful to have rules posted on the black gates where parents and children can see them better. Other than that- I’ve loved it all! Yay Albany!
I grew up in this pool. Been going for almost 40 years. I was at the private opening of the new pool and it is very nice. The first day opened to the public I also went and got there at 12:30 and waited 2 hours in line to get in. The problem is the line jumping. There was someone about 10 people in front of me who let at least 30 people get in line with her. That shouldn't be allowed. Most people in line were upset about that. They really need someone outside monitoring that. Nobody said anything but not everyone will be as nice and all ham will break out once that does happen. You can't bring anything in. No chairs, coolers, alcohol, cigarettes, vapes , lighters and obviously no weapons. So please don't because you are just going to hold up the line. You must go through security you will be waved down with a metal detector. Your bags will be thoroughly searched. Don't take it personally it's for everyone's safety. You can bring a water bottle that is sealed. If you open it you will need to dump it before entering, you can refill it at one of the water stations on the inside pool area. No juice no food either. Do not park on the left side you will get a ticket. There are signs that say no parking anytime. So don't park there unless you dont mind a ticket. If you come with little ones watch your children. Yes there are many lifeguards but they are not your personal babysitter. Come with a good attitude and enjoy the beautiful pool. And for goodness sakes please don't cut the line it's just rude and your momma ain't raise you like that.💛 The staff was not rude in anyway. Let's treat them with respect so they have no reason to be rude. Also Because of the security, police, staff and lifeguards i felt very safe. Have fun everyone!
Unfair & Unsafe Staff Behavior & Safety Negligence Toward Children**MAJOR Concerns**.....I’m extremely disappointed by the lack of care and unprofessionalism I witnessed at this facility — especially from staff entrusted with children’s safety. First, my cousin’s daughter — only 6 years old and with borderline special education needs — was forced down the enclosed water slide despite being told not to use it. Her mother and I clearly instructed staff that she and my daughter were only to use the orange open slide, which is slower and less overwhelming for small children. Still, a young Caucasian staff member knowingly ignored this and pushed her toward the wrong slide. When we asked why, the girl casually said, “We’re just trying to move the line.” My cousin’s daughter even told her she wasn’t supposed to go, but the girl insisted. When I respectfully voiced my concerns, this staff member got aggressive, waved her hand at me, and said “I don’t care, I don’t care.” I was shocked. As a mother and special education worker, this is completely unacceptable and emotionally harmful to the child. I said if you don't care about the kids you're working it with you Don't need to work here. She got aggressive and said her mother needs to not let her get on the slide because we have to move the line. Still not getting the point & trying to justify. I said let me go get my cousin mom and you tell her what you said about her child. She call the head lifeguard. He replaces her with and apologized saying she was insensitive. My cousin came to her to see why her daughter ended up in that situation, she blamed everything on the other staff. All the staff look like their under 20 and don't want to be there! I hope they get I together and next year have a better experience Just ten minutes later, I witnessed a second disturbing moment: a little Black girl (around 4 years old) cautiously walked to the edge of the slide, clearly hesitant. Instead of guiding or checking on her, she was left alone to walk away, and the same dismissive behavior was on display. The staff member in question was eventually replaced, but it was clear that this is not an isolated incident. The head of lifeguards himself often shuts down the pool for hours with no real reason — it’s like they don’t want to work and are taking it out on the community that relies on this space. This is a community pool that serves many Black and urban families, and the way these children and parents are being disregarded is disgusting. If staff doesn’t want to be there, they shouldn’t take positions meant to protect, guide, and nurture children. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I truly hope someone in leadership takes accountability. Our children deserve better — not to be dismissed, endangered, or mistreated by the very people who are supposed to be keeping them safe.
