The Ann Arbor YMCA, located at 400 W Washington St, is a community-focused facility offering a diverse range of health and wellness programs. It features a fitness center, gymnasium, multiple swimming pools, and dedicated spaces for youth development, group exercise, and community engagement for all ages in the Ann Arbor area.
The Ann Arbor YMCA typically has two main pools: a Lap Pool, generally maintained at around 79-81°F (26-27°C) for swimming and exercise, and a Warm Water/Therapy Pool, usually kept at approximately 90°F (32°C), ideal for therapy, young children's lessons, and gentle aquatic activities.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility generally receives high praise for its modern, clean, and high-quality environment, featuring new equipment and updated workout areas. Staff are consistently described as friendly and great, and the gym offers extensive programming, community events, and is considered great for families. Convenient location and uncrowded lifting areas are also highlighted as positives, with some appreciating tools like the Inbody scanner. However, common complaints include the high membership prices, which are sometimes coupled with additional charges for parking and lockers. Other issues mentioned are the hot temperatures in certain workout areas (e.g., weight room/treadmill) and slow responses to class sign-ups. A minor suggestion was for earlier Sunday operating hours.

Great facility, with some new updates to equipment and the workout areas that are really nice. Staff is always great, lots of programming, always very clean. There are also great community events that are so fun to attend. I love the inbody scanner so I can track my fitness progress!
Use to be good now it’s so hot at a weight room/ treadmill also who the hell would wanna pay for parking and a locker at a community gym that’s charging adults 54$ that’s Ridiculous Ann Arbor has became a corporate town , Waste of time
I personally love the staff. The programs dedicated to the community are amazing, and to top that, the building is also a extremely new, high quality, modern building. The membership prices are high but definitely worth the pay!
Great place for families to exercise and take classes. Extremely slow to respond to class sign up a day after registration ends.
Nice gym, very friendly staff, and conveniently located. The lifting area usually isn't too crowded, at least compared to Crunch Fitness where I was previously a member. Only minor complaint is I wish Sunday hours started at 7am to align with Saturday hours.
