Indoor facility known for hosting swimming meets with bleacher seating.
The Olympic-sized competition pool is typically maintained at a temperature between 79-81 degrees Fahrenheit, while the smaller instructional/warm-up pool is kept warmer, usually between 84-86 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool facility elicits mixed reactions. While the pool itself is consistently praised for its impressive appearance and clear water, other aspects receive significant criticism. Historically, air quality and temperature have been major issues, with reports of poor, hot, and muggy conditions causing discomfort for spectators and swimmers alike, and leading to swimmers developing coughs. However, a recent review (June 2024) notes a marked improvement in air quality and comfortable temperatures. Spectator seating has also been a recurring complaint, citing insufficient, poorly arranged, or outdated bleachers, though the same recent review details substantially improved and more extensive seating. Further criticisms include outdated building aesthetics, expensive parking, limited deck space for meets, and 'okay' but unclear announcer speakers. Phone reception can be an issue. Despite helpful staff, these factors, particularly historical issues with spectator environment and capacity, have led some to deem it unsuitable for championship events, though recent updates may address some of these concerns.
Reviews
There's two kinds of indoor pool, Dungeons where light and phone reception disappear, and brightly lit arenas for swim competition. This one was a bit of both. On the other hand the staff are incredibly helpful, and there was plenty of space to host a larger meet.
Date: 2024-June-1 : I think some things must have changed since many of the reviews here. There are 3 rows of bleachers the whole length of the pool as well as 14 rows of wooden bleachers at the starting end of the pool. Air quality was good. Comfortable temperature, while wearing long pants and a T-shirt. The only game I see is one at the end of the pool, I assume, blowing air from the pool to outside. The announcer speakers are "okay". Could maybe be louder, but could definitely be clearer. Pool looks really nice, water is clearer than a number of other pools we've been to for meets.
The pool itself looks impressive, however for this being a University facility the rest of it was very disappointing. The building pastels seemed very outdated, poor air quality. It was extremely and fans they had put out to help where not working. There are old wooden bleachers on just one end of the pool, which makes it hard to watch the swims. There were 3 or 4 tiny bleachers shoved against the side of the wall. Parking was horribly expensive, I have never had to pay for parking before at a swim meet!
The air quality is absolutely terrible... lots of swimmers developed a cough due to the poor air quality. The pool itself is pretty solid but it is not a good spot to host championship meets due to the lack of seating for spectators and limited deck space.
Temperatures get pretty hot & muggy for spectators. Their's not enough seating either. Then people will try to stand along the railing like it's a balcony in front of your view.
