The room we got had a nice ocean view. My wife likes the double sink in the bathroom. The room could be cleaner. Saw some hair) dust on the floor and stain on the wall. No I'm hair dryer in the room. I called for room service to deliver hair dryer but no one ever showed up. We only stay one night to watch a show next door. They seem to have a lot of other activities, games etc for family with young kids.
My recent stay at the Showboat Atlantic City was a letdown. First, the cleanliness was a major issue. The hallway on our floor was visibly dirty, and there was a constant, strong smell of marijuana. The room itself had a few maintenance problems, including only one working sink. The air conditioning was also a big disappointment; it was set to a cool temperature but never dropped below 70 degrees. We also had trouble with basic amenities. There was no coffee pot or hairdryer in the room. When we asked housekeeping about a hairdryer, they told us to call the front desk. I called the front desk at least ten times from the room phone and my cell phone, but no one ever answered. Finally, the security was questionable. The key card was supposed to be required to access our floor from the elevator, but this feature didn't work at all, which felt like a significant safety lapse. Overall, it was convenient place for us to stay for the night after a concert, but definitely would not stay here again.
The room was fine. It was clean and the two bedroom three bath was spacious for eight people. The rest of the hotel was disgusting. The elevators had no certifications posted from the fire department that they had been inspected and The doors from one of the elevators kept getting stuck, causing people to be scared to use it. One morning, there was dog pee in the elevator and someone just put a wet floor sign over it and it wasn’t cleaned up for almost 4 hours in another area. There was dog poop next to an arcade game on Friday when we arrived and that wasn’t cleaned up until Monday evening And yes, we did inform the staff that it was there. There was a coffee shop in the front and that was very nice. The coffee and food were good if you stay in the apartments it’s a pretty long walk to get out to the boardwalk. It would have been one thing if they redid the hotel and just tried to keep some of the old charm of the show boat, but this was just old and dirty. I Know Atlantic City isn’t known for its cleanliness, but this was on another level. I would not stay here again.
Cleanliness & Maintenance Issues • The shower curtain in our room was moldy. • The room smelled strongly of wet dog, and no air fresheners were provided despite repeated requests. • The beds were extremely low, lumpy, and uncomfortable; the sofa bed mattress was thin and caused physical pain. • The hotel did not resemble the photos advertised, and I felt misled by the marketing. Poor Service & Rude Staff • Front desk staff consistently failed to answer the phone. • Housekeeping staff were unprofessional—giving attitude when asked for towels during a four-day stay, banging on our door, and handing linens as if we were an inconvenience. • When I asked a housekeeping staff member in the hallway for assistance, I was told, “That isn’t my room.” • Staff in the food facilities were rude, and the area itself was dirty and unsanitary. • When I attempted to speak to a manager, I was ignored and even hung up on. False or Misleading Information • I specifically called ahead to confirm the presence of a family-friendly pool and was told “yes.” Upon arrival, I was informed there was no pool and was directed to an on-site water park instead. (Which cost more money) • Parking information was not disclosed during booking or check-in. When I declined valet service, staff simply pointed toward a distant lot instead of offering assistance. Unpleasant Environment • Other guests were loud, running and banging on doors late at night. • The arcade attendant was dismissive, telling us to “check the kiosk next time” while standing idle. Overall, there was no sense of hospitality or customer care during our stay. We found ourselves counting down the days until we could return home—an experience I have never had even at much more modest accommodations.
There is no pool. No casino. Dated hotel but rooms aren’t bad. Hallways and other common areas seem very dated. Lobby is basically a giant arcade for kids, gambling areas have been converted to an arcade as well. Water Park seems like a nice amenity but it is pricey for what it is. Location is the best part, next to the newish Ocean hotel. Saw the drone show Ocean’s does and it was nice. Beach is cleaner on this side of the city. Walking distance to several places to eat, the lighthouse, and Dollar General if you need anything basic. Self parking is convenient but $25/day.
