About

Krause Springs, located at 424 Co Rd 404, Spicewood, TX 78669, USA, is a privately owned recreational area known for its natural beauty. It features a collection of 32 natural springs that feed into a man-made pool and a natural swimming hole, surrounded by lush gardens, waterfalls, and towering cypress trees. The site offers camping, swimming, and a peaceful escape into nature, making it a popular spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts.

The spring-fed waters at Krause Springs maintain a refreshingly consistent temperature, typically staying around 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit (20-21 degrees Celsius) year-round.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Krause Springs is widely praised as a 'hidden gem' and 'amazing place' near Austin, offering a beautiful natural escape. Visitors consistently highlight the affordable entry fee ($10/day, $15 for overnight camping), crystal-clear spring-fed pools (both natural and man-made), and a stunning waterfall that empties into a river. The property features a gorgeously detailed garden (some reviews mention a $3 extra fee for a butterfly garden), large cypress trees, hammocks, wind chimes, and abundant plant/flower species. Popular activities include swimming (with depths from 3-8 feet), exploring caves, enjoying rope swings, and even fishing. Many recommend arriving early, especially on weekends, as it can get busy and the water might become less clear. Essential tips include bringing water shoes for the rocky and sometimes slippery terrain, and a float for relaxing. While the scenery and natural attractions are highly rated, some reviews note that the outdoor bathrooms can be dirty, have bugs, and lack handicap accessibility. Camping is an option, with RVs potentially requiring reservations, and overnight campers enjoy unrestricted pool access. Despite minor drawbacks like bathroom conditions, the overall consensus is that Krause Springs offers a fun, refreshing, and beautiful experience, making it a highly recommended destination for nature lovers.

This is an amazing place and only $10.00 an adult! It is open 11 hours from 9-8. There is a gorgeously detailed garden area that we spent 2 1/2 hours in! It is a spectacular garden with beautiful fountains, hammocks, wind chimes of ALL sizes, thousands of butterflies & bees & an infinite amount of plant & flower species! Just amazing! Then you go into the springs and the natural fresh water pool is huge, cool & inviting! It goes from 3-8 feet deep and everyone using it seemed to really be enjoying it! The pool empties into a made natural waterway that drops about 100’ into the river below forming a natural waterfall that was so nice to go under! The river bottom is stone and flat in some places and edgy in others! I HIGHLY recommend water shoes for in here! When done in the river, just go to the edges and dry off on the rocks in the sun! We then went back to the car and got our lunch! After lunch we got to talking to a senior member of the staff and he told us of a spot in the lower end of the park for fishing and e went there for a few hours! All in all we were there till 4:45 pm and we got there at 9:15am! 7 1/2 beautiful hours for a mere $20 bucks! This place is a gem and we will be back!!

I had an amazing time at Krause Springs. This place is truly a hidden gem just outside of Austin. The natural spring-fed pools are crystal clear and super refreshing, and the whole property feels like a little oasis with huge cypress trees and a beautiful waterfall. I especially loved the rope swing and the little caves near the lower pool. It is such a fun spot to explore. Entry was only $10 per person for the day, which feels like a steal for how beautiful and well-kept the area is. If you want to camp or stay after 8 pm, it is $15, which is worth it because the place gets even more peaceful once the day visitors leave. I recommend coming early on weekends because it can get busy, but the line moves pretty quickly. Bring water shoes for the rocks and a float if you just want to relax in the water. Between the cool water, the gorgeous scenery, and the relaxing vibe, Krause Springs is now one of my favorite spots near Austin. I cannot wait to come back and maybe even camp overnight next time.

Highly recommend a visit to Krause Springs if you ever want to take a dip! It’s best to go earlier in the day to enjoy the clearer water. We went afternoon on a weekend and it was packed with the water a muddy brown. Nonetheless it was a great time!! There’s restrooms and plenty of space to set up your group. There’s also a rope swing!

It's beautiful! It's not expensive and it is so fun. The landscaping is amazing, they have a butterfly garden you can visit for $3/person. They are on 40 acres of land, and they have the option to camp overnight! I think you need to make a reservation if you have an rv, though. But it's definitely worth the drive and the cost! The bathrooms/showers are as you'd expect for an outdoor park, they are dirty and in need of some repairs. The showers are not handicap accessible. No ramps or flat flooring to enter and the shower heads are turned on by the lever at the top of the shower heads, so children aren't likely to reach them on their own . Because it is outdoors, there are lots of bugs in the bathrooms (mostly flying ones). The shower/toilet doors are saloon style swinging shutter style, they are shorter, not meant for taller people. It's amazing, they have a man made pool and a natural pool. The natural pool was chilly despite it being hot outside. The rocks are slippery and some have moss on them. There are fish, frogs, tadpoles, and snakes in the natural pool. So if they aren't your thing they have a man made pool as well! They also have camping grills, and picnic tables as well as benches! No pets allowed here!!! If you camp overnight, you are able to swim in either pool without restrictions on time. They don't have any life guards!

Krause Springs is simply a hidden gem! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene beauty of the surroundings. The lush greenery, along with the tranquil atmosphere, makes it an ideal getaway. The centerpiece, a stunning waterfall, is a must-see. Its cascading waters create a soothing sound that adds to the peaceful ambiance. Swimming in the cool waters beneath the falls was the highlight of my visit! Overall, Krause Springs offers a little piece of paradise for nature lovers and anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. Highly recommend!
