What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for Lake YMCA are mixed. Positive feedback highlights very friendly and helpful staff who are always smiling and welcoming, the general cleanliness of the facility including a clean pool, and new exercise machines. Some members appreciate the variety of workout options. However, a significant number of adult members express strong dissatisfaction, primarily due to the consistent unavailability of basketball courts, which are frequently booked for daycare, kids' camps, school teams (including cheerleading), or elementary practices. There are also complaints about the pool often being closed due to a lack of lifeguards. This leads to frustration among members who feel they are not getting value for their money, especially given that these access issues appear to be long-standing, contradicting information given by the Y regarding court availability.

I really like the team, they are always smiling and ready to help. I like my favorite gym, the pool, it is always clean, new exercise machines, in general I like everything👍
I’m sure if you have kids it’s great. But as an adult man who was hoping to play basketball and swim, I’ve been pretty disappointed. The courts are always unavailable due to daycare and kids basketball camps. And there’s no lifeguards on duty so the pool has been closed very often. I’ve come and had to turn around and go home multiple times now and I’m starting to wonder what I’m paying for. If I just wanted treadmills and weights I would have joined Planet Fitness for 1/5 the price. Edit: As I now read the other reviews I see this has been a long time issue. And in a response the Y claims that Court Three has guaranteed Y use. However I was told literally just today that court three has been reserved by the school for the entire summer. Had I read the reviews I would have never joined.
Maybe listen to some of the 10000 reviews complaining about the basketball courts never being open for members and always being used by HS cheerleading which could practice anywhere because they dont need hoops. Nonsensical and ignorant to not listen to your membership on one simple change. Who is being protected and served here the cheerleading coaches at Lake????
Spend ten dollars to get in at 7pm because the basketball courts are always completely filled until then. And then get kicked off the courts in half an hour because there are 8 elementary teams that are practicing on every court. I feel sorry for the paying members that go to play basketball because the basketball courts are almost never open all year round.
Being new to the area I was looking for a new workout facility. I'm so happy I found Lake YMCA. Not only is it very clean, there's a lot of workout options available. The ladies at the front check in desk ALWAYS greet me at 5:15AM with such kindness & a smile :)
