What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this facility are mixed. Positive feedback highlights the effectiveness of Coach David, who is praised for his individualized approach to teaching children, recognizing strengths and addressing weaknesses. The saltwater pool is appreciated, and lifeguards are described as attentive and kind. The area is generally well-kept, and swim heats are organized. Parking is noted as challenging, with a smaller lot, though shoulder parking helps accommodate busy events. However, there are significant negative experiences, primarily concerning swim lessons and customer service. Issues include long wait times for private lessons (up to 3 months, despite promises of quicker availability), difficulties with communication, and a lack of refunds or make-up classes for cancelled sessions. One user reported extreme difficulty in obtaining a promised refund for private lessons, extending over two months, even after assurances from the CEO, and expressed concern over the treatment received for a grandchild with disabilities. Overall, while some aspects like coaching and pool quality are positive, there are notable frustrations regarding lesson availability, refunds, and communication.

Coach David is great. He really takes time with each kid. As my granddson said, 'he sees my strengths and teaches me to overcome my weaknesses!' I think that sums it up nicely. The pool is salt water and the lifeguards are attentive and kind.
Very well kept area. The swimming heats were very organized. The parking isn't the best. You have to get there early to get a close parking spot.
I went to the Y a month ahead of time to get private swimming lessons for my 3 yr old grand child who has disabilities. I told them that my granddaughter would be with me only 3 weeks. The young woman who took my money said That on paper it says on the contract that it could take up to three months to get lessons but they had plenty of life guards and it can be done. I gave her $250 for 6 lessons. When my granddaughter arrived I called The Y and repeatedly got the run around. I then went to the Y and spoke to the Director of Aquatics @ oakbrook Susan Nesselrod told me that private lessons were 3 months out. I repeated to her what was originally said to me. I told her to give me a refund and she did agree stating that they usually do not give refunds but because of the circumstances she would issue a refund we are now 2 months into this and I have not received a refund after going back and getting reassurance from the CEO that I will receive a refund by way of "the check is in the mail." I will return tomorrow to see what the new story is. My granddaughter is on the spectrum non-verbal and this is the treatment you get from the Y.
I'm usually happy with the programs offered by YMCA in other locations but this one leaves little to be desired. The swim lessons were a huge waste of money. We signed my son up for a months worth of swim lessons only to have majority of the classes cancelled due to weather. Which I understand is out of their control. The issue I have is these classes are not made up or refunded in anyway. So basically, you pay for services not rendered. Attempting to get any kind of communication from them is next to impossible which is very unprofessional and only makes frustrating situations more frustrating.
Smaller parking lot but good amount of parking along the shoulders to make up for that. Smaller outdoor pool facility but worked just fine for busy swim events.
