About

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's Lions Club Pool, located at 1041 Ridge Rd, Homewood, IL 60430, USA, is a popular outdoor aquatic facility in the South Suburbs. It typically offers a variety of features for all ages, including zero-depth entry, water slides, lap lanes, and diving boards, making it a seasonal destination for community recreation during the summer months.

Specific, consistently maintained water temperatures for the Lions Club Pool are not publicly advertised. As a seasonal outdoor aquatic facility, its water temperature is generally influenced by ambient weather conditions and is not typically heated to a precise degree.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool facility generally receives positive feedback for its cleanliness, well-maintained pools with non-overpowering chemicals, and attentive, certified lifeguards. It is described as a welcoming and family-friendly place, offering options for private events and birthday parties with cooperative staff. A concession stand with moderately priced food is available, though outside food and drinks are not permitted, and only US Coast Guard-approved life vests are allowed. Accessibility features like a chair lift are also noted. Swimming instructors are praised for their excellence with children. However, there are significant negative experiences reported, including a concerning (though perhaps exaggerated in phrasing) claim of a drowning incident on a waterslide. A major complaint details a frustrating experience where management closed the pool early due to low attendance without prior notification to customers who had just paid, initially refusing a refund and only offering a rain check shortly before the season's end, causing considerable disappointment and requiring persistence to secure a refund.

The pools are always clean, and the chemicals used for keeping the pool healthy are never overpowering. The lifeguards are extremely attentive, and I believe Red Cross certified. That may have changed, but that was the case when we became members a few years ago. In any case, the lifeguards are doing their jobs, and you can feel safer knowing that they are up there. You can host a birthday party here or have a private rental after hours. The pool staff and park district are very easy to work with for these events. The pool does have a concession stand serving pizza, hot dogs, pretzel with cheese, cinnamon pretzel, nachos, and other concession worthy goodies. They are moderately priced. No outside food or drinks are allowed into the pool. U.S. Coast Guard approved life vests are allowed only. There is a chair lift for those needing assistance entering an exiting the pool. There are male and female entrances that lead to the bathroom and changing areas. The entrance to the pool is just through the showers. The facility is clean, welcoming and great place for families to spend a day cooling off in the water.

My grandson started swimming since he was a toddler. Now he is 11 years ago. The instructor was excellent with him and rest of the kids that my grandson only wanted her as his teacher. They all are excellent with kids.

I don't normally post these type of post, but I'm so incredibly disappointed in Lions Club Pool management. Today is my daughters birthday, and our family and friends came to Lions Club to celebrate. We knew the weather would warm up closer to the evening, so we arrived at 4pm today, and expected to leave when closed, at 7pm. We bought our tickets, and noticed there was a private birthday party to the right that was wrapping up. We jumped in the water and started the celebration. 30min later, after the private party left, we were told by management that "due to low attendance, the pool will be closing early at 5pm". I then said, I understand the attendance is low, but what about the people that are still here, and paid to be here? I was told, unfortunately it's been low attendance all day, and they are going to close early because of it. The only reason why they opened was because they had a private birthday party, and then they told me they didn't have my party registered, so they were not expecting another party. I told them, although I didn't buy a birthday package, I purchased an individual ticket for everyone in our party, so we can celebrate. *The MOD then asked me, "well how long did you plan on staying". I told them until the closing hour, 7pm. ... while I'm thinking to myself, so this is a flexible decision? They told me they would give a rain check for the inconvenience. I was frustrated because, they knew they would close early when I purchased my tickets at 4pm, and DID NOT disclose the possibly closing early. I was also shocked that they offered a rain check when the season closes next Sunday. When I insisted for a refund, they had to make a call to the supervisor to get it approved. I asked to speak to the supervisor, and was told they were out of office, and I couldn't speak to them. After I insisted, I was given a refund. The entire experience left a really bad taste in my mouth.
