What are people saying (AI review summary)? This facility receives mixed reviews, with positives including a nice pool, dedicated staff, and consistent lifeguard presence. Swim lessons are highly praised for their quality, effective coaches, and good student-to-coach ratio. However, significant criticisms are directed at the facility's run-down aspects, particularly the locker rooms and showers. Showers are consistently cited for having only extremely hot water with no cold-water mixer, and there are serious concerns regarding safety and hygiene, including incidents of inappropriate behavior in the locker rooms. Patrons also report frequent and poorly communicated cancellations of 'Open Swim' hours, inconsistent application of pool rules (such as deep-end access), and a general lack of responsiveness from staff via phone, leading to frustration and a perception of inadequate management and customer service.

Good facility, lifeguards on site. Fairly clean lockers. Things are a bit run down but everyone was nice to each other. Lifeguard is here at all times.
Nice pool, dedicated staff but the shower and locker room don’t deserves any star. It receives occasionally some homeless people for showering… nothing wrong with that till I witnessed a blk dude after shower hang around naked, walking among little oriental children (6,7,8 years old I guessed) for several minutes. I started and finished my shower, dried myself, got dressed and ready to go and he was still there with a towel on his hand pretending was drying himself while trying to impressing the kids by bouncing his junk right in front of them. I informed the only person I found in the front desk and left without knowing the outcome. Not long ago, CPD spent a lot of money trying to upgrading the shower, I was very happy thinking they would replace the (single faucets “hot water only” system) with a cold/hot mixer but to my indignation it did not happen… there’s no faucet for could water. I love to shower with cold water but there, the water is so hot you can prepare a coffee or tee without a problem.
My family and I attend “Open Swim” on Sundays from 11am-12pm as the schedule online states and we are able to go to the deep end. We decide to come on a Thursday from 3pm-4pm for an “Open Swim” and we are told we can’t be on the deep end. I notice 1 person performing lap swim. We then ask one lifeguard why we can’t be on the deep end and they proceed to ask another lifeguard if we can do a swim test before getting on the deep end. The lifeguard says no and tells us we simply can’t with no explanation. 20 min later, 2 people show us and get in the deep end not performing lap swim and they were not told anything. If there is a time for lap swim, they should not be performing lap swim on open swim hours. Very disappointing. We also don’t live near the area, time wasted.
My daughter has been taking swim here for several years! We adore the coaches! Coach Daniella and Evelyn really make you feel at ease and of course Coach Martin is the best! I also love the student to coach ratio. These classes are high quality! They truly taught my daughter.
This is the worst Chicago Park District pool. They keep canceling their Open Swim schedule without proper notice. They only put up one page of paper next to the locker room or a handwritten note on the entrance door. Nobody picks up the phone, so you even can't check with them in advance. The supervisor is very proud of her own team, but she definitely does not care about the district. It was a bad experience and it's a shame on them.
