What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility elicits mixed reviews, with some praising its wonderful indoor pool and water park, which includes multiple pools (kid-friendly with slide, heated therapy, lap), a whirlpool, and a steam room. Positive mentions also include clean locker rooms, and some staff members being friendly and lifeguards attentive. However, significant criticisms exist across several areas. Common complaints include poor changing room conditions (wet floors, lack of private cabins, no direct pool-to-bathroom access), and overall poor customer service. During events, there's a notable lack of seating, unorganized staff, and issues with crowd management, including rude patrons and seat-saving. Safety concerns are raised regarding lifeguard attentiveness and management's timing of safety drills. Additionally, the private swim lesson program is widely considered ineffective due to inconsistent instructors, lack of structured curriculum, and perceived poor management, leading to frustration and a recommendation against the program.

Wonderful indoor pool and small water park for the whole family. They have 3 pools, one for kiddos with a water slide, and water ship, the other pool is a heated therapy pool (My favorite), and then they have a lap pool. On top of that, they have a whirlpool and a steam room for adults. It's nice because I was able to go into the whirlpool and steam room while keeping an eye on my kids. The lifeguards were very attentive and did their job properly. The staff were very friendly. The only thing I would want is to have bathroom access directly inside the pool area. Instead you have to go back out to the locker rooms and use the restroom there. Not a big deal. I highly recommend this if you want to keep kids busy for 2-3 hours.
Place is a dump. Changing room floor is always wet! No private Cabin to change in and out of wet clothing. Have to change in toilet! Pathetic! Wear sandals because there is no way you can put socks on and not get them wet!
Poor customer service. Rolls down from the top. I gave been a member for ~20 years and I would not recommend the Aquatics Center.
No where near enough seating for a simple dual meet. The people who get there early enough to get a seat are not particularly polite to those who aren't so early. And the staff doesn't seem organized enough to manage the situation. There wasn't even anywhere else to sit. We ended up in the hall, causing all sorts of commotion. Would have been easy enough to set up a gym for spectators to hang out in between their kids' races. But no such luck. And the people who decided to block the hallway leading in to the competition pool just stood there and looked at you as you tried to slide past them to get in. And if you make it all the way in to the pool, then there are people saving big stretches of the bleachers, but the people they are saving for don't ever seem to come and sit in the empty spots. Couldn't you let people sit there long enough to see their kids swim?
The pavilion pool is nice — it’s clean and well maintained; and the locker rooms are always clean! However, the staff (lifeguards and swim instructors), leave much to be desired. I mention this, not to beat up on the lifeguards, but to make sure parents are aware as it’s incredibly important to know that the lifeguards are dialing it in which can be seen when they transition…they wave their finger pretending to scan the pool and deck for any issues, but often times they are not looking at what they are doing, this is how accidents happen. If this pool were to be audited by their insurance carrier or their lifeguard certification entity, I am not sure this would be flagged. The management also seems to unaware of their surroundings and the impact of their poor timing. For example: the pool manager wanted to do a safety drill for the guard on duty during private swim lessons in the warm pool and decided it would be a good idea to throw the 2 year old rescue doll into the pool despite the swim lessons occurring. The problem here is that the guard saw it happening begging for it not to happen (which defeats the purpose of a drowning/identification drill) AND it scared a number of the younger kids in the pool seeing a 2 year old rescue doll thrown through the air and into water. Finally, the private swim lessons offered through Elk Grove are an absolute waste of money. We had such high hopes for the program given the excellent swim team program they have. The instructors are set up to fail by their management, which in turn leads to kids not learning (and parent frustration). Between inconsistent staff week to week, no structured assessment program and no lesson plan week to week, you are basically paying for an in-water babysitter. There are so many better options available if you want your child to learn how to swim. While I may come across as a bitter parent, I only want the best for my son and anyone else expecting results from a swim lesson program.
